    An outstanding piece of work.

    This is a must read for anyone who has an opinion on marijuana, for or against. This book is so good, that even though it's purpose is to educate about marijuana, people who have no opinion on the matter will still enjoy it, I guarantee it. The amount of studies and tests included are mind blowing. Also, the FACTS that you'll learn, instead of lies and myths, are good information for anyone.

    Easy Reading on a Complex Topic

    Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune mentioned Earleywine's book. A bunch of people at my bookstore were checking it out and I didn't really expect to read it but I got sucked in. Once you get started it just starts making you think. He explains things really well. There are a lot of negatives to this drug that appear in the book that I think other reviewers neglected. He says clearly that some people show symptoms of dependence. He also makes it very clear that people can't learn things when they are high. Although there is no link to bad driving and violence and crime, I think that these other problems are still too scary to make this drug as available as alcohol or cigarettes. You can definitely draw your own conclusions from the information in this book.

    A Surprise

    I started this book extremely skeptically. I am not a user and do not feel that this drug should be condoned. I did find that many of the things I had been taught in school were wrong. It was hard to find out that a lot of the stuff like amotivation and gateway theory are wrong. I went over those sections again and again and couldn't believe the author's proof, so I went and found the original studies. He was right! I still don't think that this drug should be legal, but it's obviously not the "evil weed" I thought it was.

    great buy

    Great Book! As Earleywine's student at SC, I learned so much from reading this book. It's written clearly and is easy to understand. This book is a must have if you have any interest in the subject!!!

    Understanding Marijuana

    If you're looking for a book to help you on your quest for Understandin Marijuana, this is the book for you. Earleywine presents the facts of marijuana in an unbiased, scientific, yet still very interesting manner. The book outlines the effects of marijuana and presents the major current debates on the subject including marijuana as a stepping stone and medical cannabis. Altogether a very interesting read that presents real facts about the subject. If you're going to read any book on the subject, I'd start here.

    must have!

    Earlywine gives us an easy read touching on many characteristics of marijuana in which people seem to overlook. You get the history, pros, cons, experiments, myths, and the undiscovered. Buy this title if you are at all interested in the real truth about this plant.

    Hear what many will not tell

    Understanding Marijuana is an important contribution to shedding light on the truths of America's most popular illicit drug--WEED. Earleywine does a fantastic job in making this book informative, interesting, and easy. This should be required reading for every parent raising a teenager. If you want to understand the issues concerning marijuana and its position in society--BUY THIS BOOK.

    Excellent book...blows away the government propaganda

    This book does a great job explaining all aspects of marijuana and its place in society. Dr Earleywine communicates clearly the evidence regarding such topics as: subjective effects, the "gateway" theory, cognitive and physical changes, and chronic effects of marijuana use, as well as an interesting chapter about possible medical uses for marijuana. If you like to argue with your buddies at the DEA about American drug policy, this is the book for you.

    weed is interesting.

    If one has a general interest in marijuana then this is a great book because it talks about pot history and goes through many recent scientific experiments done on the drug and the results. It's also an easy read.
