Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"It explains basic celluar biology, genetics and the immune response in health, before disucssing how these can be altered in disease..The text is well written and it is clear that the authors aim to make difficult concepts readily understandable. Extensive high-quality artwork complements he text and the images illstrating disease descriptions help the reader to visualise the information...there is excellent information on 'lifespan alterations', with a particular focus on paediatrics and ageing. The extensive online materials on the associated Evolve website look fantastic, with useful review questions, animations, critical thinking questions and weblinks. Overall, this an exceptional resource that I would recommend highly to all those with an interest in pathophysiology."

This book presents pathophysiology affecting bothadults and children, using a streamlined approach to address the keycontent regarding pathophysiology. The book was developed to offer asimplified, more elementary version of the authors' textPathophysiology: The Biologic Basis for Disease in Adultsand Children. The book is designed to highlight essentialpathophysiology content in a basic and easy-to-understandmanner. Although the authors only specify faculty and students, it ismy opinion that this book clearly targets baccalaureate undergraduatestudents. Of particular strength are the chapters in part 1 of thebook that help move the student into a more conceptual approach toaltered patterns in physiological function. In addition, the frequentuse of well-delineated diagrams facilitates a concise presentation ofmaterial. Last, the Did You Understand section at the end of eachchapter isolates crucial aspects of the chapter. This book is a moresimplified version of the authors' excellent text. It is an excellenttextbook for pathophysiology in baccalaureate nursing programs. Itsfrequent use of tables and diagrams makes for concise presentation, quick referencing, and excellent teaching aides. The Did You Knowsection at the end of each chapter cues the student to crucial pointsin the chapter. The content is written by individuals recognized asexperts in their areas. more from this reviewer

Many spelling errors, which speaks volumes for how much time was put into this book.

Pictures are nice, but I found it to vague for the amount of money paid. I'm sorry I bouught it and would not recomment it.
