A finely written collection of essays on major women in Mozart's operas. I purchased the book while studying Don Giovanni, and there were 3 chapters on this opera. I was most impressed with insights on the motivation expressed by the music in the characters of Donna Elvira and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte. This book can be read in its entirety, or it can be read in chapters to study individual operas.
