About the Author:
Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., serves as director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition. He writes the "Children and Grief" column for Bereavement Magazine and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and Today. He is the author of Healing Your Grieving Heart, Healing a Teen's Grieving Heart, and Understanding Grief. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado.

    Best work on grief/mourning I have found

    It took me several months after my husband's death to start looking for a book that might teach me a little about what I am experiencing and how to live with it. Once I did, I have found Dr. Wolfelt's work by far my favorite that I've seen, skimmed or read in entirety. What I like best about it is this: the author encourages readers to honor their lost loved one and themselves -- not simply to learn how to 'move on' or 'feel better faster,' as so many other materials do. If you want a quick fix, this is not for you. If you want a compassionate exploration of what has happened to you and how to treat this traumatic, momentous life change with love and respect (and with faith and hope, if you choose), you will get much from this work.
