Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Donna Brumby
This volume of Usborne's "Science For Beginners" series should really be better than it actually is. The illustrations are colorful, humorous and appealing, and most of the content is useful and interesting, but taken as a whole, this book does not match up to other non-fiction titles done with a similar format. There is plenty of information included, and a semblance of organization, but the result still seems more like an illustrated list of facts than a well-planned book. Also, some of the particularly British witticisms and references may not mean much to young, inexperienced readers in other countries; finding the appropriate audience for this title may not be easy.
