Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment in the Underworld series, finds ex-Tangerine Dream member Paul Haslinger back for a third go around he has composed the score for the first and third chapters as well. Brazen, percussive, and metallic, Haslinger's modus operandi here doesn't differ too much from the approach he took with the other two films explosive bursts of brass and wintry, industrial electronica mixed with moments of gothic melancholy, but he's proven himself as dependable as they get when it comes to lacing predictable, big-budget blockbuster themes with moments of genuine emotion.
