Overview

Many would think that being adopted into the one of the world’s wealthiest families would have made things easier for Sophie Grayson. But wealth and privilege cannot erase the deep-seated scars etched on her soul. Haunted by the horrifying events of her childhood, Sophie’s life begins to spiral out of control leading her down a path of self-destruction that she doesn't know how to escape from. When she meets Roan Westport again—her one time almost step brother her world comes a screeching halt and she is startled to realize how attracted she is to him. Sophie proposes sex, but Roan wants something far more valuable.

Roan Westport didn't even realize he was going through the motions, barely living until he met Sophie again. The chemistry between them is undeniably intense, but there are far deeper issues at play then Sophie lets on and the closer he gets to her the further away she pushes him. When Roan finally sees the extent of Sophie’s scars, will he be strong enough to stay and help her or is Sophie far too gone to ever be loved?

I read this as a stand alone, and let me tell you it was an emot

I read this as a stand alone, and let me tell you it was an emotional ride. Sophie is strong regardless that she puts up the front of being happy, she is strong to be able to hold herself together. She didn't cut to get attention she did it to be able to feel. It's hard to function in life without being able to actually FEEL anything. But Roan was her protector, her go to guy and eventually her lover. He was questionable because of the past however you can tell right off that he was sincere and cared about Sophie. Not only did she stand strong to keep her past from effecting her family she was the one that took allowed a mad man to take her life instead of her mothers. I wish there was more of an indication of what happened to Roan, however I think i got the gist of it. This is a highly recommend book in my eyes.

    Beautifully Painful

I suggest reading the two prior books in this series though you could read this as a stand alone book. For me, understanding the change in Sophie was more stark because I read the other books. She is a 20 year old girl trying to make up for the evil of her father and, thus, has a need to be perfect and to fix everything even if it means loosing herself. This is a book about love and forgiving yourself that does not have a happy everafter ending but life is more than a HEA ending.
