In Richard’s transporting first Country Roads contemporary, a city girl tries to adjust to smalltown life. After losing her job and her boyfriend in Philadelphia, Paige Morrison moves in with her parents in Mirabelle, Fla. Paige immediately gets off on the wrong foot, defensively assuming that everyone thinks she’s “an amoral, promiscuous pothead,” but mechanic Brendan King isn’t thwarted by her prickly behavior. Brendan easily wins Paige over with his charming smile and easygoing manner as he helps her find employment and introduces her to the town’s charms. The romance between Paige and Brendan is sweet and subtle, complete with moonlit kisses, sunny beach picnics, and little touches and glances that slowly rev up their mutual attraction—but gossip and tragedy threaten to disrupt their happiness. Richard’s page-turner marks her as a contemporary romance author to watch. (Mar.)

Meet the Author

Shannon Richard grew up in the Florida Panhandle as the baby sister of two overly protective but loving brothers. She was raised by a more than somewhat eccentric mother, a self-proclaimed vocabularist who showed her how to get lost in a book and a father who passed on his love for coffee and really loud music. She graduated from Florida State University with a BA in English Literature and still lives in Tallahassee where she battles everyday life with writing, reading, and a rant every once in a while. Okay, so the rants might happen on a regular basis. She's still waiting for her Southern, scruffy, Mr. Darcy, and in the meantime writes love stories to indulge her overactive imagination. Oh, and she's a pretty big fan of the whimsy.

There was no reviews on B&N or Goodreads (actually I couldn't even find it on goodreads) so when I bought this book I was taking a huge risk. It was the most amazing risk & worth more than the meager $2.99 I paid for it! Take a chance on this book you will not be disappointed. This one is going on my top 10 most enjoyable reads of all time and so far is the best book I have read this year. It had perfect balance of all key elements. Nothing felt rushed, over the top or forced. It was a very real work of fiction. 5+ stars in all areas; romance, sizzle, steam, character development (interactions), town interactions, side character development (interaction), flow, angst, insecurities, nosy or mean people, editing and plot. I think this is the first book I can honestly say I have all pros an absolutely no cons! For me that has never happened, even with the other books on my all time best reads. Can't wait to read more from this author!!

I got this book because of the first review and she had it nailed. It keeps your interest, is a fast read, not boring in the least, and at times the author's writing style and humor reminded me a lot of Janet Evanovich. I can't wait to read more of her work. Go ahead and buy it. You won't be sorry nor will you be able to put it down!

Very refreshing book for a light summer read. The book is the first in a series and the author does a good job building the relationships that will come in future books.  I look forward to more books in this series.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book.  I'd seen mixed reviews for this book and thought I wouldn't like the book, right up until I started reading it.  Of course, once Paige met Brandon, I wasn't going to stop until I'd read the entire book.   I was surprised by the animosity Paige faced in Mirabelle.  She was misjudged and even then whatever people decided about her were based on what I thought to be trivial and inconsequential things.  I liked how she tried her best to not let it get to her.   I really enjoyed the chemistry between Paige and Brendan.  They were hot together and I felt like I could relate to them.  I wanted them to overcome the obstacles keeping them apart.  I also like how this book essentially laid down the framework for the second book in the series.  I really enjoyed my first book by Shannon Richard and look forward to reading more from her.

Honestly this is the best book series I have ever read and my favorite. It has the right amount of steamy romance for it not to be considered eroric that is written in beautiful scenes. It also has that general sweet romantic sense to it that the author brings out in the rest of the series. I love both the male and female characters so much they make me want to be their friends. The setting of each book also makes a huge impact. Overall I think these books deserve way more spotlight than they get right now. AR

As a new reader to shannon i was quite surprised how much i enjoyed this book without mentally comparing her writing to others ive read before! Im always leary if a new author can measure up to my expectations! Well......i was hooked from the get go!!! This was a great story that had every possible element i love about a romance in it! Humor ,family, friendship& a very unexpected medical issue that came out no where that really affected the plot towards the end & had me in tears multiple times! I became invested in learning the other characters stories in the near future!!!! Excellent job Shannon!! So thrilled to have met you at RAGT15 this summer! Best of luck to you .i look forward to many more hours of reading you! Sincerely traci in south Florida

Undone is the first book in the Country Roads series, and also the introduction to a eclectic group of friends who reside in Mirabelle, Florida. This book is centered around damsel in distress Paige Morrison and her prince charming, laid back mechanic Brendan King. I absolutely loved their story, it was a heartwarming read with plenty of blushworthy moments! The storyline was addictive and did a excellent job at holding my attention the whole way through. This book can definitely read as a standalone, but my guess is, after you finish it you'll be dying to get your hands on more books in the series! Shannon Richard is definitely one of my favorite new authors, her books do not disappoint!

Undone by Shannon Richard DNF This story was just too sweet, too predictable, too everything that is your generic modern day romance and it didn't draw me in or keep my attention. Pippa, My Secret Book Spot

Paige Morrison moves back in with her parents after losing her job, apartment and boyfriend in the short span of two months. And as if moving back in with your parents after being successfully independent isn’t bad enough, she is now stuck in a small Florida town that has quickly decided she is trouble and should just move away. After yet another horrendous interview where the local business owner has no real intent on hiring her, Paige’s car breaks down on the side of the road. There she is rescued by auto shop owner Brendan King. Brendan King has been fascinated by the very tall and attractive Paige Morrison ever since she moved to town. When he finally meets her he is even more amused by her carefree colorful style and her smart mouth. Attraction and amusement quickly give way to more and now Brendan has to find a way to make sure she stays in a small town where half the population is nosy and mean. There are only three words to describe this romance - cute, sweet and sexy. Paige is wonderfully fun and sassy. I was drawn to her right away. Her sarcastic responses to some of the horrendously rude people of Mirabelle were so fantastic that I almost I have an opportunity to steal and use them one day. And Brendan…yum. His laid back attitude was quite attractive. And the fact that he jumped in head first once he realized how much he loved Paige? Wow. He didn’t even look back. He knew what he wanted and he went after it with such confidence and carefulness that I may have swooned a little bit. This is a fun and sometimes moving story about two people navigating the many different stages of a relationship. If you love romance and are looking for a sweet and fun read, Undone is for you. Nat

Poor Paige is down on her luck lately and had to move "home" with her parents in a small town in Florida. Just when she thinks her luck can't get any worse she gets help from someone who gets what it's like to be an outsider and life seems to be turning around. Brendan (love that name) finally gets to see the infamous Paige whom moved back into town. The rumors are swirling around about her but he'll reserve his judgement when he gets to meet her. He realizes Paige is guarded and down on her luck. He also knows what it is like to be the center of attention of the small town. The characters are well thought out and put together in this book. I love how they come together to get over their past pain. I'm excited to read the second book Undeniable.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I really enjoyed this book when I started it. It seemed it would have a great cast of characters and lots of drama with the judgmental town of Mirabelle, Florida. However, as the story pushed forward it seemed to really go nowhere. At times I found it boring and even overly descriptive. It seemed that everything was broken down and extremely detailed, from a baseball game to the rules of a cooking competition at a fair, but it had no true bearing on the story. The writing at times was choppy and simple and the need to overly describe everything was simply filling up pages. I liked the story. It was sweet and I really liked all of the characters, especially Paige and Brendan. I was really hoping that at some point Paige would find a way to shut the judgmental town jerks up. I really wanted her to show them, find a way to shock them into silence and to humble them into realizing how wrong they were about her. I was disappointed with this book. It unfortunately just moved at a slow pace and became the same thing over and over without any real conflict. The minor conflicts there were just skimmed the surface. There were some sad parts, but the movement of the story and the writing style took away from the emotion in those parts of the book.

Undone is the first novel from the all new Country Roads series by debut author Shannon Richard. From the first page I was hooked, absorbed in the story of Paige, who after a disastrous streak of bad luck which included: losing her job, her roommate, her apartment and her boyfriend (all in that order), has moved to Mirabelle Florida to live with her parents while she looks for a job, but quite a few people have been less than friendly since her arrival, the town is full of judgemental gossipmongers who don't agree with the way Paige dresses or acts, referring to her as easy because of the way she looks, her bad luck continues with each and every job interview, and after another rejection her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere without a car, person or building to be seen, enter sexy and single mechanic Brendan, who has been the subject of the rumor mill over the years, sympathetic to her troubles he finds her a job and welcomes her into his group of friends it's not long before these two start a relationship together. But the road to happily ever after is never a smooth one, and there will be things along the way that they'll have to deal with together, but will a secret destroy their happiness altogether or will they find a way to overcome this devastating secret that was kept under the best intentions? Once I picked this book up it was so hard to put it back down again, Shannon's writing has a way of drawing you in and making you lose track of time, I've fallen in love with this series and I can't wait for the next books in the series to be released. For those of you who love a fun, entertaining and quick read then be sure to pick this book up.

I absolutely loved it! I loved the characters, the plot, the setting; all of it! It's good to read about characters who stay true to themselves, and who are mature in his/her actions. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series and any other books by Shannon Richard! The love between Paige and Brenden was written really beautifully. "Undone" has a lot of heart and soul; I couldn't put it down. I don't have any gripes about "Undone", so I'll just say it's a must read for anyone who loves deep romances without out the main characters having to be tormented first. Loved, Loved, Loved it!

This is the first book I have read from Shannon and I liked it a lot. She did a good job writing a nice mix of happy along with deep emotions. She has a wonderful collection of true to life characters. Start with Paige who gets dumped by her boyfriend. She has to move to Florida to live with her parents again and look for a new job. Add in Brendan and it starts to get HOT. She doesn't want another man. He is hooked the moment he meets her when he goes to tow her car. She is used to Philadelphia and he is small town. She doesn't understand that when you move South you are never completely accepted. She does her best. There are spots of happy and spots of sadness. It makes this is well balanced story. Please read this book.
