This is the second book in the series, I was not a fan of the first but this really was a step up!! I Loved Gabrielle and Arran!! Their story made me laugh, and cry and fan my face because it was ever so steamy!! Really great story telling and wonderfully paced. There is so much going on a girl doesn't have time to get bored!! Loads of twists and turns, some expected, some surprising. Ms. Lee really does a wonderful job of crafting the characters. There are so many secondary characters to help make a fuller story. I really was rooting for Markus. Oh the steam, yeah..there is loads of hot and heavy action to warm up your gurlie parts!! Ya might need to take a cold shower after this one, or during, or just read it while soaking in a cool bath!! Temperatures will skyrocket! This book ends with things open for another book in the series. Who will it be, what delicious vamp is next to fall for a lucky mortal? I am waiting with baited breath!! *Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Bitter sweet story. I had read the previous book of this series and enjoyed it. I was excited to see this book was about Enclave warrior, Arron, who was featured in the first book and really drew my interest. This book covers his backstory and love interest with human, Elle, as well as dealing with the betrayal of his best friend Markus. I still don't understand the story between Arron and Markus, but am assuming it will be covered in a later book. The author did resolve the issues though between Arron and Logan that were shown in the first book. Elle was not my favorite female character. Despite Elle after having survived a vampire attack years prior and working with the Enclave vampires for 7 years, her actions to save her sister are almost as though she doesn't understand the power of vampires and how out of her depth she was in. The "I can take care of myself" was almost too naïve for someone with her vampire history and knowledge. I wish she would have been more strategic in her actions. Strengths of this story are that I'm happy to see the author did not continue/go into the part about female vampires being weaker than male vampires as was part of the first book. The bitter sweetness part surprised me but made me like the book even more and for me made it a stronger story. Live is not perfect and HEA. Still really enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

Arran left those he knew and the human who has his heart to go after his former partner and kill him. Even for a vampire this is a dangerous mission as Dead vampires are in the way. Gabrielle the human with his heart is also in the way. She is looking for her missing sister and Arran just wants her safe and away from the danger. That danger includes him as he knows he is no good for her. Gabrielle will let nothing stand in her way including the vampire she loves. Both are headed into a dangerous place where the past may come between them if a vampire doesn't kill them first. Gabrielle isn't a bit afraid to jump into danger if it means her sister can be found and she can bring her home. She will take Arran's help if he will just see she isn't a coward and can take care of her self. She also love Arran even knowing what he is. She is a strong woman who isn't one to sit on the side lines. Arran is a sexy vampire who holds a lot in. He has done things in the past people hold against him and he likes to put a front up that he doesn't care what others think. He cares for Gabrielle but would rather push her away than be near him and in danger. I haven't read the first book in this series which I will soon redeem but I love this book and world. There is two different types of vampires in it. One is good and one is evil. I love how the author splits them up. I loved getting into this world and how they all tie in together. There is tons of action after all this is a book with vampires. I love the scenes with Arran and Gabrielle as they have lots of sexual tension between them that you just can't wait for them to act on. I won't give spoilers but the evil ones will stop at nothing to get what they want. I didn't see several things coming and the author does a good job with the surprises. I look forward to what will happen next as I have to know what Gabrielle's sister will do. If you love vampires be sure to pick this up.

This is the second book in the Enclave series, and the first story that I have read by Jessica Lee. I was able to read this story without feeling lost. It’s a paranormal romance about vampires who are willing to fight for what’s right including protecting humans, so it has a lot of fighting. I will definitely be reading the first book in the series and am looking forward to more of her books.  Arran MacLain was a member of the Enclave. A group of vampire warriors who have promised to protect humans from Marguerite, the Enclave sire, and her rogue followers who want nothing more than to take over humanity any way they can, including destroying the Enclave. After his ex-partner secretly followed their sire and ambushed them, Arran left the Enclave to hunt him down on his own. Now, he’s a vampire who is biding his time not caring if he lives or dies. Two things are keeping him from giving up all together: His love for Gabrielle, and his past that holds onto his soul.  Gabrielle Stevens has worked with Enclave for a few years. She takes care of the technology that’s involved in helping protect humans and keeps contact open between the warriors while on missions. She cannot locate her sister, and she is determined that she will not sit around waiting for someone else to find her. But she never expected the clues she found would bring her so close to Arran again. Since she needs to find her sister and Arran needs to find his ex-partner, and all the clues they find indicate that they both need to look in the same area they decide to fight the evil together.  They are both haunted by the past, but as they search for answers their passion for one another burns. Is it enough to help them forget the past and move on? Or will the evil they fight make it too late for all of them?  I received an e-ARC of this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Let's start by saying these are sexy, tough vampires and nothing like those sparkly ones. This story was full of action, which I really enjoyed. I was so taken with the book I could not put it down with wanting to see what happened. I just want to say Arran is one sexy, tortured, alpha vampire...yum There are so many layers to Arran that he keeps hidden from everyone in an attempt to protect people. The one person who wants to get through to him, Gabrielle, had a tough road. Gabrielle is perfect match for Arran, she is tough, holding her own in the company of vampires. Even though she was attacked by a vampire in the past she overcomes her fear to love Arran. I liked that she goes after what she loves and wants whether that is her sister who has gone missing or her vampire Arran. This story has some twists and turns and I don't want to give away to much. I think the DEAD vampires were well written and now I want to go back to the first book and read more about Marguerite and Markus. Is the next book about Alex and Markus? I cannot wait to see what happens next. 4 stars

Meet Arran MacLain , vampire and former member of the Enclave. He’s taken a couple of years off after having the distinct misfortune of being partnered with the traitorous Marcus.  Arran has no greater desire than bringing Marcus to justice for the deeds that he’d done.  Meet Elle, Gabrielle Stevens, a human techno whiz that’s worked for the Enclave since her unfortunate run in with Vampires. Did she roll up into a fetal ball and whine about her attack? Oh no, this woman is all spit and fire. She still has issues to deal with, but she’s not one to take no for an answer, for one, Arran MacLain. She loves him, maybe, but there’s more to it than just that. Meet Logan, now he loves Elle. Arran is a dirty dog in his book, there’s a lot of history in Logan’s and Arran’s relationship. It’s definitely complex. It’s a delight watching the dance between these comrades. Logan is so moonstruck with Elle, Arran feels he’s so undeserving of Gabrielle, and all Elle wants is to find her missing sister (for the most part). She’s so upset; she doesn’t know what she wants from either of these two warriors. Torn between two lovers comes to mind because she is torn. She doesn’t want to hurt Logan, but Arran is determined that he’s not good enough for her. It’s a fight for what’s right for Gabrielle. It’s great to see the team back together, working as a team to vanquish their enemies. This story is fast paced, and leaves the reader breathless with the action, and fanning from the ‘other’ action (wink, wink). I cannot wait to see what happens next! Write on, Jessica Lee, write on!

This is the second book of this series and though I have not had the pleasure of reading the first book if the second is anything to go by it will be amazing .This story starts out with Gabrielle wanting to find out what happened to her sister Alexandria. During her search she runs into Aaron, here’s a little insight into these two main characters: Gabrielle is a strong spirited woman who has been thru many a tragedy that would make most people not just women want to give up on life but yet she has made it her mission to not give up on life but to fight back and help keep the things that happened to her from happening to others. Aaron is the bad boy who is in love with everything that makes Gabrielle who she is but of course like all bad boys thinks he’s no worthy of her love. This is truly a must read it captivated me from the beginning.

booksbysteph says "This Author Writes the Way People Actually Talk" In Fairfield, South Carolina, Gabrielle Stevens learns that her sister has been missing for at least three weeks. Her neighbors tell Gabrielle that Alexandria started hanging around a Goth club called Wicked Ways. Gabrielle creates a Gothic style character that can check out the club without getting noticed. But it is what Gabrielle noticed is far beyond what she imagined. Two years ago, Arran pushed her away by telling her that her kiss was forgettable and today he sits at the other end of the bar. Arran MacLain is a vampire. He was part of a group, called the Enclave, that killed Death Euphoria Addicts. His former partner, Markus, nearly destroyed the Enclave when he turned against them. Arran left the Enclave and has been searching for Markus. Those searches lead him to Wicked Ways - owned by Markus himself. Horrified at the thought that her sister might be dead, Gabrielle and Arran team up to find Alexandria. But being around each other is much harder then they realized. They loved each other but Gabrielle is human and Arran is a vampire. How will that work? And "God forbid if [Gabrielle] ever found out about the things" Arran did in the past. She would be as disgusted as he is with himself. I GIVE THIS BOOK: 4 Stars * WARNING: CONTENT & LANGUAGE * MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN Read this series in order. There are references to the first book that I did not understand. Finally! An author who actually uses racy language rather then trying to keep things clean. I feel that using language that people use in real life, proper or not, brings the reader closer to the story. I could imagine myself as Gabrielle and properly enjoy the X-rated sex scenes. Until next time, life life one page at a time!

Woah! Holy hotness! I enjoyed this book! It was sexy, interesting and much more.  Gabrielle is on a mission to find her sister Alex. She's on a mission to do it all by herself. But then she sees Arran at the club she's in- in her disguise. He hurt her badly 2 years ago, but she can't stay away. Circumstances bring them together again and she wants to fight for them-- but can she?  Arran is on a mission to kill Markus and while doing so finds Gabrielle. He wants to protect her and keep her safe. He doesn't believe he deserves her due to past events. He loves her and thinks walking away was and is the best. But can he leave her again?!  These 2 characters are amazing. Yin and Yang. They complete each other, but are stubborn individuals holding past events from seeing what is in front of their faces. I enjoyed their banter and much more.  The rest of the characters were also interesting to read and I cried at one part too. So sad but touching too!  Oh and that ending... makes me want more!!  This book is hot, sexy, has dominant/sub males, kick butt women, lies, frustrations, fear and loss. Wonderful story.  * I received a copy of this book from Entangled Publishing for an honest review*

As usual, I didn't know that this was part of a series (you'd think the "A novel of the enclave" on the cover would clue me in, but noooo...then again I read on my phone, so the print's pretty tiny and easy to overlook). But that didn't stop me from enjoying the book. It pretty much can stand alone, although there was a lot of hatred and anger aimed at one of the villains of the piece that I didn't entirely understand, though the villain's actions for this book certainly deserved anger. Gabrielle ("Elle") wants to find her sister who's gone missing. She's left her comfortable home with the Enclave to go searching for her. It also gives her some time away from Logan, the vampire who wants to mate with her, because she needs to think about whether or not she wants him like that. They've been working together for a long time now, and though she doesn't want to admit it, she's never gotten over Arran (they were in a hot and heavy relationship a couple years earlier that ended...not so good).  Arran is searching for a couple of pretty evil vampires and his investigation crosses paths with Elle's at a nightclub frequented (owned) by vampires. The sparks fly pretty darned quickly and he tries to protect her even as he's drawn once more to her. He's never gotten over her. There is a great deal of growth for Elle. She comes to terms with the fact that Arran is a vampire (she had pretty big fang-fear) and falls in love with him all over again. Arran reluctantly has to let Elle risk her own life to keep from smothering her. Of course that doesn't exactly please him because well, he's a typical protective male! And there's a high cost that gets paid for her pursuit of her sister. There's plenty of blood, guts and action in this book. Lots of lovin' once the two gets past their issues. I was drawn into the world-building Ms. Lee does. I liked her take on vampires, both the Enclave and the DEAD (Death Euphoria ADdicts) vampires. I'll happily read more of her work when given the opportunity and hope to see more from her soon. And of course, once again, it's Entangled. They get the best books! I'm totally starting to recognize the cover art style when I see them on NetGalley, btw. I don't even need to see the logo - I just recognize the style. YAY! Book provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Vampires of the Enclave are dedicated to protecting humanity from those vampires who have lost complete control. Gabrielle works with them, but now she has a personal mission. She needs to find her sister Alexandria who is missing. While investigating she see Arran who left the group to track down his former partner, Markus who betrayed his comrades. Arran and Elle have always been attracted to each other but circumstances have kept them apart. Now they have another chance. Can they find happiness among the death and danger that surrounds them? Will they be able to save Alex and capture Markus? The action is non-stop and is filled with much danger and intrigue. Elle and Arran are a very sexy couple. Their love is fierce and fiery but they are also strong and independent people who will not back down from danger. I enjoyed their story and found the writing style of Jessica Lee very riveting. Just be aware that the sex is very hot and may make some uncomfortable.

This isn't a book I would normally pick up, but very well written. Gabrielle is searching for her sister and the last known place she might have been was a goth night club where vampires hang out turning unsuspecting humans. She ends up meeting a vampire from her history that helps her out. They both have feelings that they have been trying to fight but in this midst of working together those feelings demand to be released. A steamy book that has mystery and romance. I would definitely read another book from this author!

I read this book without reading the first book in the series. It can be read as a stand alone. I got into the story, so I plan on going back and reading the 1st book since it definitely adds more depth to it. Arran is an old vampire who doesn't have much self worth. He thinks he can never outrun the sins of his past. He'd been living with and serving the Enclave, defending humans against the DEAD (death euphoria addicts). When the DEAD stormed the Enclave's mansion, one of his fellow Enclave members turned traitor. Arran has made it his mission to find and kill him former friend. It was during that invasion that he finally kissed Gabrielle, the human woman that he'd been drawn to for some time. Even 2 years after the invasion he still thought about her. Gabrielle, one of the few humans to live with the Enclave, was on her own mission. She hadn't heard from her sister in weeks, and neither had anyone else. While searching her sisters apartment, and talking to her friends/coworkers she hears about Wicked Ways, a gothic bar. While asking the bartender if he recognizes her sister, she runs into Arran. She's been trying to forget that he called their kiss "forgettable". Arran is furious that she's in the bar, but eventually agrees to help her find her sister, which incidentally will also help him find the traiter Markus, and Marguerite. As a heads up, and this is only my opinion, but I would say this borders on Erotica. Most of the sex in the book is m/f, but there is some m/m but it doesn't go into graphic detail.

This is a story about vampires..both good and bad...and those who try to protect against them. It's also about a woman trying to find her younger sister with the help of a vampire she's trying to get out of her system while he feels he's not good enough for her and keeps pushing her away. There's also and old friend ...partner..who's now an enemy......and explicit sex.
