Overview

Master and part owner of the Diablo Blanco Club, C. Brysson "Bryce" Halsey is used to being in control and making important decisions. When a long-time enemy threatens to destroy the family business, he turns to his best friend for help.

Mattilda "Mattie" Lawrence knows her boss (and best buddy) well. Well enough to worry if her curiosity about submission could turn his proposed "marriage of convenience" into long, steamy sessions under his Dominant hand.

After demanding a week-long trial period before saying "yes" to tying the knot, this sassy sub knows that the spankings, the toys, and the promise of a menage aren't the only things tempting her. It may take breaking a few of his rules to win her Master's heart...but what's a little flogging between friends?

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and content, including/not limited to spanking; menage (m/f/m), voyeurism.

4 Stars
Rain turns up the heat and provides an intimate look at the BDSM lifestyle in her first Diablo Blanco book. Strong characters with well-developed personalities carry an engrossing storyline. Traumatic pasts and office politics give the plot added depth. Explicit sex scenes sizzle, including spanking, anal play, menage, M/F/M and voyeurism.

This full-length novel was absolute satisfaction for me. All the things I love are here--strong characters, a great plot, struggles and tension. The writing was smooth and the pacing quick, keeping me enraptured. If you are a BDSM fan, this is a great series that starts off with one heck of a strong bang. I happened to be lucky enough to get the third book in the Diablo Blanco Club, RITE OF FIRST CLAIM, sent to me to review a short while ago. It too grabbed my attention, and compelled me to want to start at the beginning of the series to see what I had missed. At the time, I was truly satisfied with my experience, but it was oh so much better to reread after having enjoyed UNFAIR ADVANTAGE. This is a community, and getting to know every member is part of the fun. Bryce Halsey was a few weeks away from taking over his father's company when board members began to question the impact of his personal choices on the company. Bryce has a choice: marry and project a stable image or resign. Bryce wants only one woman forever, his assistant, Mattie Lawrence. For eight years, he has worked to earn her trust, not an easy task given Mattie's abusive past. All out of time, Bryce must skip the dating and wooing stage and jump straight to proposing. Mattie knows Bryce is a Dom and part owner of Diablo Blanco Club. He promises he can live without that as part of their marriage, but deep down, Mattie knows that denying his true nature will stifle the life they try to build. She asks for one week to train as his submissive and decide if it is a lifestyle she can embrace. I thought all of Mattie and Bryce's struggles with each other and themselves were realistic and interesting. He came across as an alpha male used to being in control of everything, including himself. It took the thought of losing Mattie, not his company, for him to give up those tight reins. Talk about endearing! Mattie was this confident executive who had overcome adversity and now had the world at her feet, only to be given the heavens too with Bryce's proposal. It just meant she has to deal with the ghosts of her abusive pasts so she could decide if she liked submitting or just Bryce. There was no way I could put down the book when Mattie was so conflicted. No way. I was so in love with these two that I struggled when Richard joined in their play. I am a ménage fan, but I felt uncomfortable along with Mattie and Bryce in including Richard in the scene. Bryce struggles through, thinking including Richard will protect his heart. Mattie does it out of curiosity and a deep desire to please Bryce, and to participate in everything that he has shared with others. In the end, it was one of many deeply emotional points in the book. Just remembering the fabulous writing gives me chills. For fans of BDSM series, especially those centered around a community and a sex club, this is one to add to your pile. Enjoy!

I love Qwillia's stories and this one just as good as the others I've read. I instantly loved the heroine Mattie and could see the instant spark between her and the hero, Bryce. I like it when I can see the interest between the characters before any flirting has even started. Both characters were very real to me and I felt like I got to know who they were. Not only was this a satisfying romance between two people who were in love with each other from the get go and didn't realize it (slapping both characters for wasting 8 years); it wraps an intricate emotionally BDSM relationship inside a beautiful love story. I love the genre of BDSM romance. It is a hard genre to find really good authors that show the 'relationship' and 'bond' that really drives the romance. 'Kink' does not a story make. The relationship must always be front and center. Anybody can write that their characters like to get spanked, but not everyone shows why it works for that character or why it is craved in the relationship. QWILLIA DOES!!! Hugs, Krystal Shannan
