About the Author

Petra Schmidt ist freie Autorin und Beraterin in Frankfurt am Main. Sie lehrt Design-Theorie an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe und schreibt für Kunst- und Design-Magazine wie „art" und „Frame". Nach ihrem Studium der Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft in Frankfurt arbeitete sie für diverse Design-Unternehmen und war von 1999 bis 2007 Chefredakteurin der Design-Zeitschrift „form". Sie ist Mitherausgeberin der Bücher „Patterns" und „Patterns 2, Muster in Design, Kunst und Architektur", die 2005 und 2008 im Birkhäuser Verlag erschienen sind.

Nicola Stattmann ist seit 2002 selbständige Designerin in Frankfurt. Ihr Büro hat sich auf die Entwicklung von Produkten spezialisiert, bei denen der Einsatz neuer Materialien und Technologien im Vordergrund steht. Nicola Stattmann arbeitet als Autorin für zahlreiche Fachzeitschriften in Design und Architektur und hat die Publikationen „Handbuch Material Technologie" (av Verlag, 2000) und „Ultra Light Super Strong" (Birkhäuser Verlag, 2003) verfasst. Seit 2001 war sie als Gastprofessorin an verschiedene Universityäten im In- und Ausland tätig, derzeit lehrt sie am Fachbereich Industrial Design der Fachhochschule Nordwest Schweiz. www.nicolastattmann.com
