A real page-turner, "Perils of Pauline" saga of too many grudges in action.  I was mesmerized as one thing followed on the heels of another.  Worth the long read!

    Too long? Nah.....

1118 pages of wonderful story and character development and play. The journey of emotions truly made this book worth every page.

    Pretty good, but...

I enjoyed the story, but it was very drawn out, almost past the point of belief. It seemed that the characters were constantly in crisis.

    Too long.

Too long. The author consistently contridict Darcy and Elizabeth character. One minute they are strong will and then next it shows them weak and nothing like Austen character. I couldn't keep focus longer enough while reading that i pretty much skip more then half the book and was still able to follow along. There are much better P&P variation out there.

I'm not even finished with it and I can honestly say that I'm hooked. I was a bit scared when I saw that it was over 1000 pages, but I read half of it in ONE day....can't put it down! A must-read if you love Lizzy and Darcy as much as I do!

Two words... Too long! This is a good book, good story ideas and very well edited but it was too much. Let me tell you how excited I was to see 1118 pages of pure P&P retelling. I LOVE retellings, I cannot get enough. I have read over a hundred so I was so excited to see this book and imagined 1000 pages of pure bliss.
It was not to be. The story is good but it was too drawn out. Yes, the descriptions were acurate, "just when you think that Lizzy and Darcy would get there" something came up to seperate them. After the first 500 pages it became very frustrating. After 700 pages it was no longer believable. NO two people could have this much miscommunication, this much strife, this many people in thier way without someone stepping to say this is is enough. Instead everyone around them seem oblivious and let it go on. I admit I skipped 2 chapters out of frustration. But come to find out I did not miss anything. My other issue is felt the author made Lizzy too guliable, JA did portray her as a little gulible as to be taken in by Wickham so easily in the book of with this is a retelling but with reason, she was hurt by Dary's words at the assembly and wanted to believe the worst in him. This retelling has Lizzy way to easy to believe EVERYTHING, it bothered me a little to see Lizzy so duped. My opinion. And then I was at the point where I wanted to scream at the book, JUST TALK TO HER DARCY so I can end this book.
That being said the book did have some really good storylines and is very well written. I wonder if anyone advised the author to scale back, maybe take some ideas and write two books instead of one.
Well out of the 100 retellings I have read I have only written one other bad review for that God awful Goodly Creatures. But what was done was done for the best.......... This book was worth the 5 bucks but it is not on my reread list. Sorry.

Highly Recommended - got to read it

I loved the story. It drew me in from the beginning. I enjoy stories that make me feel from anger, sadness, and happiness. As you read you wonder if Darcy will give up on his pursuit of Elizabeth and just as you think he will; he rallies and continues but with all all that transpires to keep them apart, he starts doubting again. Elizabeth unaware of what is really happening starts to feel comfortable with Lord Grissholm; you wonder is she really going to fall in love with this man but to the rescue here comes Darcy. It was great I experienced anxiety, relief, dread, sadness, and happiness and when a story can bring out feelings in the readers, it is great and the author has done what she set out to do

Excellent Jane Austen fan fiction of "Pride and Prejudice"

This was an excellent take off of Jane Austen's well-known "Pride and Prejudice." My wife Gail got me interested in Jane Austen's work, and I found I really liked it...and then she wrote a story-line that was so intriguing and full of great characterization and twists and turns that it simply draws you in and will not let you go, as Darcy fights to help Elizabeth not only see his own virtues, but to rescue her from the mal intent of Wickham and others, notably Lord Grisholm...and individual other fan fiction enthusiasts who have read ths work began calling, "Lord Gruesome". If you enjoy Jane Austen and "Pride and Prejudice," you are bound to be captivated by, and love, "An Unforgiving Temper."
