Guardian angel Selene was so close to becoming an archangel-the supreme of all beings-until she fell in love with Cole, a forbidden dark one. Once she discovers her vampire lover has been kidnapped and the only way to save him is by abandoning her number one priority-Caitlyn, her human charge-there really is only one answer in Selene's mind, even though leaving Caitlyn unguarded will most likely cause Selene to fall from grace.

Angels and fallen angels are a hot topic in the young adult genr

Angels and fallen angels are a hot topic in the young adult genre right now. What I really liked about Unguarded was how the author blended other paranormal beings into the mix. Instead of being a book about fallen angels being in love with a human, she brings demons and vampires along for the ride. The main character, Selene, who just happens to be an angel, falls in love with Cole - a vampire. I liked how the normal storyline was spiced up with the added supernatural creatures - I felt that it gave it a refreshing twist on the concept and made it stand out from the rest.

The storyline is an interesting one and I really enjoyed reading it. The thought of a snarky and somewhat pissy angel was fun. I really liked Selene's character and it was easy to identify with her. The other characters in the story were quite likeable as well, which I thought made the story that much better. I loved the forbidden romance between Selene and Cole. They had to face a ton of hardships in their relationship, which is something that most couples have to do as well. It was hard not to root for them. The narrative was very well written and had a great flow to it - which made this a really fast read for me. The only real negative thing (if you could call it that) was that I didn't want the book to end. It was a page-turner that had me hooked from the beginning and I'm really looking forward to reading more of Ashley's books. Highly recommended for paranormal YA fans - especially those who love angels and vampires!

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

UnGuarded was a book so fantastically different from any other t

UnGuarded was a book so fantastically different from any other that I've read. Seriously. I am floored by how much originality this book contains.

Who ever heard of coming at a love story, half-way through? I certainly haven't. Who would've thought that it'd work?! OHMYGOODESNESS, does it work!

From the moment I read the first page of UnGuarded I was in it. There was no stopping me. Not my kids. Not my husband. Nada. I couldn't wait to get "just one more page" (YEAH RIGHT!) in before I had to put it down.

Selene is so extremely awesome. The poor thing seemed to be in a state of perpetual guilt-ridden angst, but she always had the best of intentions. Well, most of the time. SOME of her actions, I may have considered, uh, "questionable", but wouldn't you act questionably for YOUR love, too? Even if you WERE a guardian angel?

What is most important, is that Selene was willing to give up ANYTHING for her vampire love, Cole.

When we start the story, Cole is already knee-deep in trouble. He got kidnapped. Now, Selene has to save him. Trouble is, she's got a job to do. A very important job. But, well, she doesn't let that stop her.

This is what I mean, though. At first, all we get are little flashbacks of Selene and Cole--as Cole is otherise "engaged". But, it doesn't matter! The flashbacks are enough to make the reader squirm in anticipation for a reunion between these two. From the very beginning Ms. Robertson is in no way lacking at her job of getting the reader to understand Selene's love for Cole or even Cole's love for Selene.

Although, saving Cole doesn't come easy. Selene DOES get help, however, in the form of ANOTHER (HOT) vampire, Luke. Seriously, what does this girl need with ANOTHER hot vampire?! Lucky, girl.

SO, there is a bit of a triangle. A bit of some of that misunderstanding-who-do-I-love business. Let me be clear, however. UnGuarded was never boring. It was never cliché. All I could think of was how in the WORLD would everything get turned around? How would Selene POSSIBLY get her happy ending.

Well, you need to read it to figure that out. It is So. Beyond. Worth it.

Fresh Twist On Angels, Demons, And Vampires!

If you're looking for something different than a lot of other books out there, then UnGuarded is definitely worth checking out. Guardian angels are there to protect the humans from those malicious, pesky demons that constantly tempt and sway us. But when guardian angel Selene chooses to shift into human form at will—thus forming a special friendship with her human charge, and falling in love with a vampire—the fate of those she loves quickly falls in jeopardy, and now she's racing against time to undo her mistakes...only to find herself digging deeper into a hole that seems bottomless. This story is action-packed right from the beginning. A must read for anyone who loves paranormal romance thrillers!

There's no wonder why Ashley Robertson was a 2013 National Indie

There's no wonder why Ashley Robertson was a 2013 National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist. Her ability to create unique paranormal fantasy is some of the best I've ever seen. UnGuarded creates an unlikely relationship between an angel and a vampire, a relationship that could cost the angel everything - even her life. As Selene tries to save her vampire from the demons, she may risk the life of her charge. Can a guardian angel save the man she loves while protecting a young girl from danger? You'll have to read the book to find out. UnGuarded is an excellent example of paranormal fantasy and one that I highly recommend.

This was a fun story for me to read. I love reading all types of vampire books and some with angles. So this was a real treat for me to read something new and different then I have ever read before. I really liked Selene a lot in the book, being pulled in so many directions and having to make tuff choices. This book keeps you going from the start from Selene being sent to earth to being Caitlyn’s guardian angel to helping her love Cole.

Cole ends up being kidnapped by demons and taken to Charon, a realm that has been over taken by demons. Selene has a hard choice to make, to leave her charge, Caitlyn, behind unguarded and without protection, which could leave her open for attack by demons.

While Selene has left to help Cole and leaves Caitlyn alone, Caitlyn has only two out comes and Selene is having a hard time with what Caitlyn’s future is marked in stone as.

What will happen to Selene? Is she going to become a fallen angle? Will Caitlyn’s Future change? What happens to Cole?

So many questions, you just need to read the story to find out what happens. Check out more reviews at Asha Butteflys

    Love finds a way always

My review of UnGuarded by Ashley Robertson

    Rating 5*****

This book was provided free from the author in exchange for honest literary review. The opinions voiced here are solely my own and given freely.

Selene was sent to eath to be a guardian angel. Her first responsibly is always her charge Caitlyn, who also happens to be her dear friend. Against the archangel's warning she has been spending way too much time in human form bonding th her charge. These moments have also allowed Selene to-do the unthinkable...fall in love with Cole who is a vampire. Angels of light and never supposed to associate with creatures from the darkness...let alone love them.
Selene's decisions have now brought on cure consequences. First so all she is losing some of her angel powers. Next both Cole and Caitlyn suffer horrible incidents leaving them mortally wounded. The question is just how far will Selene go to make things right once and for all.....
This book was beyond amazing. First of all I loved that it encompassed creatures of both light and darkness. The angels were more humanistic and believable than in any other book I have read. Not just the ordinary angels can do no wrong scenario, but one where angels mimic humans and do have the choice of free will. They experience decisions with consequences and have humanity. The demons are clever and cunning ....some are very likeable while others really do make you despise them. I found Selene to be very endearing, selfless and a joy to share in her story. Almost never in life are the answers easy, and those she faced were far from easy. She was very selfish at times but took responsibility for her actions. Things all of us have done. I was very impressed with this novel and it is a wholehearted must read. I am holing there will be a part two to this because there are a few things she.purposely left the reader hanging over.......On the grammatical front...the novel flowed very well, no grammatical errors I could fine and characters were very well likeable and developed. A book you seriously won't put down. On this one I really don't even have any suggestions about what could be better all I can say here is keep up the awesome work !!!!
