The Underworld is real.

Spencer Perry knew it was a long shot when she started searching for a way into the Underworld, the ancient Greeks resting place for the dead. But three months ago her boyfriend died and now she'll do anything to get him back, even make a deal with the devil himself. Only, Hades isn't what she expected, and neither is the proposal he offers. In exchange for Micah's resurrection, all she has to do is spend every night for the next year down below. From the very first meeting the god makes her feel things she shouldn't, but she takes the deal anyway, knowing in the end it'll be worth it. Except, as soon as their bargain begins, strange things start happening. People are being attacked by invisible forces, and all signs point to the God of the Underworld being responsible. Has Spencer inadvertently unleashed hell on earth?

I would like to thank We ♥ YA Books! and the author Tempest C. Avery for allowing to read and review this book, it was an honor to read this piece of art. Spencer Perry is a young girl who's about to start senior year in high school, but a terrible accident takes the life of her boyfriend Micah. Everything is not lost, Micah comes back to her as a ghost, defying the God of the Underworld and the God of Death. Spencer makes a deal with Hadrian after she gets fascinated by the story of Persephone, just so she can have Micah back into her life. A set of weird things and freaky accidents start to occur around her affecting her friends and family. Are those things happening to her because of her connection with Micah's ghost or is it the mysterious God that she made a deal with behind it? Will she able to finish the time with Hadrian in the Underworld to get Micah back or will she accept her attraction and feelings towards the God of the Underworld? I sincerely recommended this book to anyone who likes Greek mythology. I love Hadrian since he first appeared in the story, Spencer is in so much grief that she pretty isolates herself from the world but as much time she spends with Hadrian she discovers things about herself, if someone can make me feel what Hadrian did to her, I will be in love with him forever, anyways some weird things occurred and noone has a clue of who is behind it. Spencer has great friends they make me giggle and appreciate the friends I have. I really enjoyed the crush between Ferris and Quinn, they were so adorable. Micah really got on my nerves sometimes, the dude is dead stay that way and go enjoy the afterlife, leave the living alone............. After reading this book and falling in love with Hadrian I can only say to Spencer -"Open your eyes girl, if he helps you to confront your fear and to conquer it than he is the ONE". And here is my finally intake to the author, Magnificent job, I can't wait to read book number 2!!

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the goodreads group Lovers of Paranormal, or LOP.*** Wow. This book just worked for me. I've always been obsessed with Greek mythology, and I took all the classes I could on the subject at USC (Go Trojans!!!). So I was super excited to read this modern day twist on the Persephone myth. I really liked Spencer and thought the depiction was spot on of her depression after surviving the accident that killer her boyfriend. I feel for Micah, and he seems like a nice guy... but Hadrian! Sorry, there was no struggle over who to choose on that one. Spencer showed a lot of growth in this story as she worked through her grief and began mending relationships. She was strong, and I understood her choices and loyalties, even when I didn't agree with them. She was a bit slow to acknowledge certain things that were obvious to everyone else, but I think a bit of that was denial and guilt over her own feelings. She acknowledged that she was a new person after the accident and her plans from before might no longer be right for her. I was happy to see her start to question things and begin figure out what she wanted and resume living her life. That revelation at the end has me excited for next book, which I am going to purchase and download now.

I read some of the reviews and I kinda have to wonder....did I read the same book...?? Sometimes it goes back and forth between people and its kinda confusing as to who is saying what. The main character is whiny and way to dependent on guys. I understand some of the hardships she had to endure but we all have to overcome terrible things in our lives. Really mad I picked this book for .99 cents when I could have bought AND read something better. Even the hot bad guy couldn't save this book.

Reminded me a little bit of twilight. I found a few typos amd don't know if they were there origanally(didn't spell that correctly) or just the ebook, but it doesn't matter. That means the author had so many good ideas they didn't catch little mistakes like that. Overall, great story and content.

I thought this started slow, but by the end, I stayed up late to finish the book to see how the book was going to end. I would like to read the next book to find out what happens to Spencer, Micah and Hadrian. Another YA love triangle, but it did have unique twists. I liked the Mythology and small things like making distinction between Thanatos/Thayer, God of Death and Hades, God of the Dead/Underworld. The tour of the Underworld and visiting all 5 rivers was fascinating and educational. Of course, it didn't hurt that Hadrian was tall, dark and gorgeous. Quinn and Sydney were such understanding and constant friends to Spencer. Most teenage girls would've abandoned their un-fun depressed friend months ago. I didn't like the secrets that Spencer keeps from her friends and even Micah and the story is so much better when more people know the story. Micah's ghost is a great way to meet and know him, but it truly isn't healthy for Spencer. I was impatient to find out how Micah had died and could not believe that it was not revealed until half way through the book. Hadrian/Hades challenges Spencer's post-Micah existence and I liked the deal they struck. Rather than being tied to seasons like Persephone, Spencer goes to the Underworld at night or rather 12 hours each day. I could spot the cliffhanger ending from half way through the book, but there were some nice twists before it left you hanging. I received this book from the author free of cost for an honest review. I would like to think the author Tempest C. Avery for the chance to read and review this amazing book! Spencer Perry is starting her senior year in high school and her boyfriend Micah has just died in a terrible accident. She can't accept this which is made even harder by the fact that he is now a ghost and she is the only one who can see him. She decides there must be a way to bring him back and travels to the Underworld to make a deal with Hades or Hadrian (God of the Underworld). Which is when her life goes totally crazy and out of control. Between Hadrian, her friends, Reapers, and Thayer (Hadrian's brother the God of Death) things get very interesting!! Spencer has amazing friends in Sydney and Quinn and I love the relationship and total trust and faith between these three even when things get crazy and unbelievable. Spencer can always count on her two best friends. The author uses Greek mythology to build an amazing story line which rich, loveable and hateable characters that totally pulled me in right from the beginning. I could not put this book down! The ending totally wasn't what I was expecting or even hoping for but now I am dying to read the next book in this series to find out what happens to everyone and see who Spencer decides to give her heart to. If you are a fan of Greek Mythology with a twist I Highly Recommend this book! It was very well written and totally sucked me into the Spencer's world!!

Super, super awesome. I couldn't put it down last night. (Up to dang late reading it) Hadrain had me from the get go. I was hooked on rooting for Mr. Bad Boy and all his bad traits. He was lonely...poor, poor Hadrian. I have to many favorite lines from the story to quote and honestly, I didn't want to stop reading to make note of them.  Overall, I loved the book and really looking forward to more from T. Avery.
