Unholy Trinity

Overview

Written in rivetings fashion by the coauthors of The Secret War Against the Jews, Unholy Trinity tells one of the darkest tales of World War II. After the war had ended, fearing a surge of Soviet growth, the Papacy entered into an espionage alliance with British and American intelligence agents. Subsuming justice to the nascent Cold War ideology, these three powers ferreted Nazi criminals out of Europe so that they could be used in the supposedly greater fight against Communism.

The Vatica's Nazi smuggling network was penetrated by Prince Anton Turkul, the great Soviet double agent who turned the operations into a sting for his masters in the Kremlin. Unholy Trinity exposes Turkul's "Red Nazi" operation for the first time and shows how Kim Philby, the infamous British-Soviet double agent, and his network were nearly sacrificed to preserve Turkul's Vatican operation.

Exploring the Vatican's role in aiding Nazi criminals to escape punishment for their crimes, this book, originally published in 1991, first revealed the Vatican—Swiss bank connection to Nazi gold and documented the hidden links to Western investors in Nazi Germany. Since 1991, major revelations about the role of Swiss banks have confirmed Unholy Trinity's expose of the flight of the Nazi's stolen treasures; the new introduction and new final chapters, written by Aarons and Loftus for this edition, bring the book completely up to date and show how the media have missed the vital Vatican connection in the Swiss-bank story. Among other things, the authors demonstrage that U.S. and British code-breakers were fully aware of the Holocaust as early as 1941 but lied to the Western press; that the code-breakers bugged the Swiss banks and then buried secrets of Nazi gold transfers to protect U.S. intelligence chief Allen Dulles; and that the Australian, Brisih, and Canadian governments are still waging a campaign to keep their citizens ignorant about the Nazi war criminals living among them.

Covers all these topics and more, Unholy Trinity is the definitive history of a series of profoundly disturbing cover-ups involing the Holy See, Allen Dulles, the Swiss banks, and the remnants of the Third Reich.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Aarons and Loftus make a valiant effort to untangle the complex trails of diplomatic and intelligence operations in postwar Europe, focusing on Vatican participation. They document the Vatican role in British and American smuggling of Nazis to Latin America and in sending Nazi ``Freedom Fighters'' to Eastern Europe, noting the key role of Giovanni Montini (later Pope Paul VI). The authors conclude that Western intelligence was heavily infiltrated by double agents who harnessed many operations to Moscow's ends. Though perhaps less startling to historians than the authors suggest, this deliberately provocative account will undoubtedly stir up controversy. Buy it if you have interested patrons.-- Nancy C. Food for Thought

This book proposes to be an expose of Vatican intrigues in league with the Nazis, a discussion in which I personally have little interest, and clearly the authors have an axe to grind. However, where this book really shines - and why I give it five stars - is in its credible revelation that the world of international politics is far more complex and interesting than the front page of the morning paper. The blindness of the authors precludes them from the conclusion that is obvious from their material: that the communists were always a greater threat to the world at large than were the Nazis. However, their citations are fascinating, and clearly establish that the forces that shape world politics are much more than the bumbper-sticker philosophies that purport to explain them.

One of the First Exposes of Pius XII

Loftus and Aarons were among the first to blow the whistle on the pro Axis leanings of Pius XII and his Secretary of State Montini, later Paul VI. Much of the book has now been verified by lawsuits and the US government itself. As a Catholic himself, Loftus set the stage for other exposes like 'Hilter's Pope'. The book is fully annotated with scholarly citations.

Will Open Your Eyes...If Your MIND Is Open!

This book has NOTHING to do with any personal vendetta of the authors. It is based on intelligence...intelligence that our government has had for decades. It has nothing to do with Catholic bashing. Catholicism has fueled some of the BLOODIEST crusades in the history of man. This is one that shows how the Vatican political machine can and does makes alliances with the devil's own. Eye opening. I, for one, am GLAD Loftin et al write! Keep on truckin'

    Nonsense!

Complete misunderstanding of history by the authors. The authors push what they call facts based on their suppositions of conversations they neither heard or can provide proof. Alleges conversations in the Vatican without any coraboration whatsoever. Highly bigoted against Catholics. Apparently the 1 million Catholic clergy, the 6 million Ukranians and the thousands of gypsies slaughtered by the Nazi's were insignificant in the Vatican's decision of silence since none of these facts were even mentioned. Never mentions the Chief Rabbi of Rome converting to Catholicism after WWII or the Prime Minister of Isreal giving the Pope's Pius' eulogy. Some facts are misrepresented and misplaced in order to create the appearance of a conspiracy. Facts are also created based on conversations between President George Bush and his Father as if they are a matter of record or were written down, but no proof is provided of this. Same treatment to other notable American Families such as the Rockefellers. I CANNOT recommend this book to anyone!

    FBI investigates the Vatican

A shocking account of research done by FBI nazi hunters and how they uncover a web of intrigue and alliances between the Vatican and Nazi smuggling out of Europe through such agencies as the Red Cross, as the vatican felt that the Nazis were less of a threat than the Communists were.
