Overview

Benny is having a house-warming party. Stega wants to give him a gift.

On the way to Benny's new cave, Stega fills a bowl with berries. They'd make a great gift. But, they smell so good. Plus she's hungry. She eats them. All of them. Now, all she has for a present to give Benny is the empty bowl. As she nears the door of his cave, Stega gets the tummy rumbles. She'll never make it to the woods. She has to go. Right there! Right now!

Fortunately, Stega is half unicorn.

This book will without a doubt entertain your little one and have them laughing the whole way through. The illustrator of the book, Ada Konewki, has perfectly created Stega to be innocent, funny, and cute. The story itself is beautifully written and although it isn't necessarily supposed to be educational, I did feel as if there is a valuable lesson there to be learned. The lesson is that, like unicorns, everyone is different and unique and has fun qualities that make them who they are.

An original and thoroughly charming picture book story for children ages 4-8, "Unicorn, Don't Do That!" is an especially entertaining and highly recommended addition to family, daycare center, preschool, elementary school, and community library collections.
