United States Catholic Catechism for Adults

Overview

The presence of the Catholic Church in the United States reaches back to the founding days of our country through the leadership of Archbishop John Carroll, the first Catholic bishop in the United States. His story, like the stories at the start of each chapter in the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, give us a glimpse into the lives of Catholics who lived out their faith throughout our country's history. Each chapter in the Catechism for Adults includes a story, teaching, application to U.S. culture, discussion questions, a doctrinal summary and prayer to lead the reader to a deepening faith. The Catechism for Adults is an excellent resource for preparation of catechumens in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and for ongoing catechesis of adults.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
"Catechism" originates in an ancient Greek word that means "to make resound like an echo." This catechism achieves that powerful reverberative effect by proclaiming the faith and teaching Catholic doctrine. These texts, prepared by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, contain a clear formulation of essential Christian truths. A useful tool for strengthening faith and fidelity to basic Catholic beliefs.

United States Catholic Catechism For Adults

I am currently taking the R.C.I.A. classes to become a catholic. This is a required book to use in the months that the class is going on. When taking the class this book is given to you for free, but if you are someone just wanting to know about the catholic life this is very informative, and effective in learning the catholic way of life. Even if you are already a catholic or wanting to know about the catholic way of life this is a great way to renew your understanding or to get to know what Jesus and the kingdom of God mean to us all. I hope if you read this is will change your way of thinking in to the future, and where you want to be after the second coming of Christ.

Great Resource for Learning About the Catholic Faith

I use this book in my parish RCIA Program. It is a handy resource for those preparing to enter the Catholic Church. However, it is also good for those who simply wish to learn more about their Catholic faith or even those who are not Catholic but wish to know what Catholics believe.

This is one of the book choices when we teach converts the Catholic faith. The other choice is the Catechism of the Catholic Church by the Vatican. This one is by the bishops of United States.
