A Debut CD Recording Not To Be Missed

The debut recording from mother-daughter duo Deborajane and Jennifer Governor introduces two women who share more than strong voices, good comedic timing and great genes. Through a treasure trove of rarely performed songs and popular standards, it’s easy to imagine an intimate cabaret, or a stage, or a conversation among friends. Traveling from Russell/Krieger’s "We Share Everything" to Hamlisch/Zippel’s "Don’t Follow In My Footsteps" to Wildhorn/Knighton’s "You Are My Home," The Governors sing universal tales that speak to every mother and every child. About the Artists: DEBORAJANE GOVERNOR: The mother in this musical duo, Deborajane ("Debbie") Governor, has been a working actress and singer since childhood. In her accomplished entertainment career, she was a member of the original Broadway cast of Woody Allen’s "Don’t Drink the Water," and enjoyed a recurring role as the first upscale drug dealer on the ABC daytime drama, "All My Children." Prior to forming a cabaret act with her daughter, Jennifer, Debbie regularly appeared Off-Broadway and in the Philadelphia region. She was a company member of the Philadelphia Theater Company and performed at Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theater. Her favorite regional productions include "Guys & Dolls," "Pins & Needles," "Hotel Suite," "The Glass House" and "Barefoot in the Park." But it wasn’t until she and Jennifer won the "Most Beautiful Mother and Daughter" talent contest on Sally Jessy Raphael's daytime television talk show that she ever performed with her daughter. Their winning act served as the catalyst for their cabaret show, which they have since performed at venues across the country. When not on stage, Debbie is a successful fashion consultant, makeup artist and wardrobe stylist. JENNIFER GOVERNOR: Following in her mother’s footsteps, daughter Jennifer has been acting, singing and dancing professionally since the age of three. Accompanying her mother to an audition, she won her first television commercial role, then went on to appear in over 50 national commercials for products such as Jell-O pudding (with Bill Cosby), McDonald’s (with Ricky Schroeder), and Goodrich Tires (with Danny Bonaduce). Jennifer cites one of the highlights of her career as appearing Off-Broadway in Joseph Papp's theatrical adaptation of Michel Legrand’s "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" at The Public Theater. Recurring roles on the television daytime dramas "All My Children" and "Loving" followed. Numerous regional theatrical productions include "Jacques Brel ...," "How to Succeed In Business ...," "Sweet Charity," "Godspell," "The Gondoliers," "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "Trial By Jury." A graduate of the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Theater Institute, University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and Villanova University School of Law, Jennifer is also a successful labor and employment attorney. Editorial Reviews Philadelphia CityPaper, June 27, 2002 They are so good I would hasten to see them anywhere in the future. Philadelphia CityPaper, June 27, 2002 This extremely professional team not only sings beautifully, but their choices of songs are unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable. Track Listings 1.
