Overview

The United Worlds Authority (UWA), a four eBook novel, has an exciting storyline and dynamic characters. The novel is also available in episodes, titled: UWA Episode # followed by the eBook’s title. UWA is a down-to-Earth story with much of the tale taking place on Earth. UWA has a strong international intrigue flavor, unique to science fiction. With the addition of intergalactic conspiracies and deceptions the suspense increases keeping you absorbed. The UWA organization of planets has been fighting a vicious opponent for about a hundred years. The conflict has drifted into Earth’s neighborhood and the human race is about to become reluctantly involved. Global leadership must choose which side of the coming battle to support. The wrong selection will result in extermination of all life on Earth. Within this fray is one person who tips the balance of this galactic battle in favor of Earth, and she is not human. Her name is Angelica and she is an elite fighter pilot. The young woman is from one of the over hundred members of UWA. Angelica’s boldness, bravery, and unsurpassed combat skills saves the day, but at tragic personal loss. Read UWA to learn the outcome and the surprise ending. The website, UnitedWorldsAuthority.com, provides 107 of the first pages, many color pictures relating to story settings, and technical details intentionally omitted from the novel so not to load down the story and diminish its characters. Many readers have commented that UWA would make a great TV series or movie. Others have said that the true strength of UWA is its character development, as testified on the UWA website and reader reviews on the Barnes and Noble site. Several were unable to stop reading UWA, doing it in one sitting, despite its full glossary which is divided into three sections: People, Places, and Terms. UWA is a one-of-a-kind science fiction tale and will be read over and over.

Editorial Reviews

reviewer - Thomas P. Cheung
The most entertaining science fiction, or any other novel, I have read in decades. I believe this novel could be the next block-buster movie. It reminds me of the original three Star Wars films, but with a twist of international funny-business. I know that the book has a full glossary in the back, but I never used it. I could not put the book down and read it all in one shot. You must get this book. One word describes it; WOW!
proof reader - James N. McCready
What an interesting blend of ideas is contained in this book. Everything from hi-tech machines, inter-galactic spacecraft, statecraft, spy-craft, war, and alien friendships, ranging to healthy human romance are found between the covers. I can't wait for the next volume.

Sci-Fi readers will enjoy this book. The plot is well-paced but detailed enough to keep the reader's interest far into the night. I found myself being drawn in and identifying with characters in the book. Looking forward to the sequel.

I think it (UWA) would make a great script for a TV show or movie.
proof reader - Carol Graff
UWA was a unique science fiction novel that contains the style of Tom Clancy and the old masters of Sci-Fi: Asimov, Clark, Heinlein, and Anderson.

Meet the Author

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Stephen L. Baker lives in Beavercreek, just outside Dayton, Ohio. The two things he dislikes are cities (cramped and dirty), and highways/roads (deadly, and driving is a waste of time). He retired from the US Air Force, Civil Service, with over 30 years involvement with missile and aircraft development. Despite this heavy technical background, UWA is not a technical story, which is a problem with many Sci-Fi books. His belief is people read Sci-Fi for entertainment and the cornerstone of that are the characters. People enjoy reading about people. The pictures at the top of each chapter and on the website illustrate what a "practical" spacecraft should look like, compared to the normal Hollywood fanciful concoctions. The world that is the centerpiece of the novel is a reverse, or mirror image of ours. Readers have commented that they wish it existed and they could go there. The UWA website provides some of these settings. Much more will be available on a disk for use as relaxing screen savers.
