Unity: To Kill a King brings us the origin of the Unity team. Fi

Unity: To Kill a King brings us the origin of the Unity team. First, I hate the team name and it is just being used because of the connotation it has with Valiant. But that aside, Unity is a pretty good team book. In the first issue, we don’t even see the real team members – we see the team that started as Unity, but that was all killed! Ultimately the team consists of Eternal Warrior, Ninjak, Livewire, Harada – all to take on XO Manowar, whom Harada sees as a threat.

I didn’t really understand everyone (other than Livewire) agreeing to work with Harada. Surely they all know what kind of person he really is, but I guess they all agreed that XO was more of a threat. With some very interesting twists and turns (I love the new Livewire and her abilities – she is very integral to the group) they eventually do NOT kill XO Manowar (I guess I should have said spoilers, but if you thought they were, you probably shouldn’t be reading comic books).

I still don’t really see the team working together naturally over the long haul, but perhaps that is something that will be addressed in future issues. These issues are well paced out, the story line is tight, and the art enhances the story. If you are a Valiant fan, this is a must read book.
