Overview

It's almost uncanny listening to B.B. Jay's rhymes; everything from his overweight looks to his brash delivery remind one of the deceased Notorious B.I.G. On the mic, Jay isn't quite as witty as B.I.G. and isn't nearly as harsh, instead constantly referring to his spiritual beliefs. Just because Jay gives constant props to God doesn't necessarily make him wack, but it does make things a little awkward to the listener, particularly during the title track, when a really strange gospel-like chant concludes the song. Another big problem with this album lies in the dull production; there are some nice beats but none of the backing samples or cinematic ambience that it takes to give these songs the necessary flavor they need. When looking for some good gangsta-feeling Christian rap, there probably aren't any other albums that can compare to this one, but for most consumers, this album really doesn't have much to offer -- besides a reminder that B.I.G. was indeed an unparalleled force.

I would like to highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys hip-hop and r&b music. This album is so good, you will enjoy it from beginning to end. One thing I especially enjoyed was that I could hear this anywhere at anytime and not worry about offensive lyrics or profanity. I also liked the sampling of other popular music with the addition of positive lyrics. Truly difficult to believe that gospel would make me as satisfied as this album has. You will enjoy it.
