This is one of those really unbelievably overlooked gems that never got its due. Great playing, recording, KILLER music! Kim Mitchell has been a favorite player of mine ever since i saw Max Webster backing up Rush in May of 1977. I was FLOORED that night and admire everything Kim ever did! Dave Myles smokes on bass, Gary McCraken is an incredible drummer, Terry Watkinson is amazing on keys as well as Dave Stone and Pye Dubois as usual has done his unique way with words that creates many a grin...Buy this and be AMAZED!!

"...I'm talkin' to myself, I'm talkin' to myself!"

Although this is known by many as the "Rush" lp, the music on "Universal Juveniles" is solid, killer rock & roll! Even if "Battlescar" were omitted from the collection, this lp lacks nothing! A few of the songs have found their way to t.v. Guitar is great. Production is tops. Mood, emotion, integrity are all present and accounted for. One sign of greatness is the music you put out under extreem stress. Max Webster was great on this record.

    One Of The Great Guitarists!!!

Kim Mitchell(aka-Max Webster)ranks up there with greats like 'Joe Satriani', 'Carlos Santana', 'Eddie VanHalen', 'Randy Rhodes'. Well you get the picture, and it's paved with nothing but Gold and Platinum, despite the fact that ''Universal Juveniles'', was not the biggest album of the rockin' 80's(OK the rockless 80's). If you like Geddy Lee, and Neil Peart(of RUSH), 'Battle Scar' will knock your Stratocaster Off. Sit-ins on this recording include: Geddy Lee, Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson, Doug Riley, Terry Watkinson, and Dave Stone.
