Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Gisela Jernigan
Rather like the Eyewitness Books in size and design, this volume from the "Make It Work! Science" series presents basic facts and ideas of astronomy in a very clear and appealing manner. Each of the 20 chapters consists of a two page spread, incorporating many attractive color photos and drawings, some basic facts and a related activity or experiment. As an example, the chapter on meteoroids and comets includes directions for making a model surface of the moon, to see how craters are formed. Directions for activities include lists of necessary materials and safety tips. Some other chapters include Eclipses, Living in Space, The Life of a Star, and Planetariums. An index and glossary are included.
