To be absolutely fair, I bought this album believing that it would be a more ''musical'' album, considering the prodigious talents of MacAlpine and Sherinian (I'm not really familiar with Donati), and to be honest I can't take anything away from the technical virtuosity on display in this album. However, the album lacks any semblance of well thought- out songs. Basically, it sounds like a buch of half baked tracks that really never go anywhere; it has no melodic content, no songs per se and certainly no grand vision of what it should accomplish, like, say, the Liquid Tension Experiment cd's did. To put it succintly- It sounds all the same: same tone throughout, same style, same mindless wanking throughout. Sure, some tracks have different rhythms and the playing is fast and heavy, but it only serves to try to cover up the fact that they have nothing to say. Which is a shame, considering the top caliber talent involved. I hope next time they put a little more thought into the songs and production, so the tracks don't all sound alike. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
