More About This Book

Overview

Fiery, sweet, and passionate, Unleashing the Leash, Watson's first volume of poems, is thought-provoking and mesmerizing. Watson pours out his inner most thoughts about his world and personal experiences. His work is heart touching and speaks to every one of different levels. As you share his journey of thoughts, you will see love, feel pain, endure faith, bear hope, and become empowered. His work has appeared inside the Norfolk State University SpartanEcho, where he was a student of mathematics. His deep desire to change society's perception of young black men prompted him to write "Phenomenal man," a male version of Maya Angelou poem "Phenomenal Woman." In his poem "Too Black Too Strong," he takes great pride in expressing his natural roots of being black and strong, and encourages others to do so. In his writing, he is serious and humorous simultaneously. He writes with the purpose of bringing out the superior man that is inside of everyone. Be prepared to take a joyride through a world where silence is no more.

This book captured my attention immediately and kept it the whole time. I recommend that the author gives us more books like this. I had my class read the book and they enjoyed it as well. I loved it and recommend it to everyone.
