This book is right on target for today's teens

Target is the word the book uses to refer to someone who may face sexual pressure or harassment. The book is not gender specific and to show that not only boys can be targets of sexual pressure, grooming, or harassment, the information will sometimes refer to the target as "he" as well as "she." I bought the book for my 17-year old who is a very reluctant reader. However, the book is presented in nice short chapters with high-interest stories and scenarios so she can read a chapter in five minutes, which is about her attention span.

The book is very relevant and true to life in reflecting the sexual pressure and harassment my daughter has experienced. The book goes into great detail about sexual "grooming," which has helped my daughter identify behaviors in which a guy may not be acting genuinely and may just be saying or doing things with the ultimate goal of having sex. The book talks about what healthy relationships should be like, which is great since my daughter has only had unhealthy relationships. It talks about setting boundaries, distinguishing the difference between flirting and harassment, and other key considerations in relationships of all different kinds.

The book is so nicely laid out and presented, and it does not go on and on with difficult vocabulary. It's only 75 pages with nice text features, such as side-bars, call out boxes, lists and subheadings, which makes it very easy to read. Because it is fairly thin and the text is so accessible, it was not intimidating at all. If it had been bigger or more text-heavy, my daughter would never read it. The book is real and relevant and to the point, and an amazing value for what I paid for it.
