The author of the successful Storming Heaven returns to Appalachia for her acclaimed new novel--winner of the 1992 Lillian Smith Book Award of the Southern Regional Council. The story is a superb saga of three people whose lives entwine in love and politics, in Depression era West Virginia, in the shadow of dying mines and the doomed union movement.

When we first had to read The Unquiet Earth in school i was pretty grossed out because i was told it was a love story between two cousins. But as i kept reading i completley forgot they were related and i realized that there was a lot more to the story. The Unquiet Earth is a great story with many different narrators. i couldn't put the book down...it was sweet, romantic, sad, funny....it was just a great book. I'd reccomend it to anybody. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

It has love, hate, pain, healing, friendship, family, history, social concerns - all the elements of a great story. I picked this book up to read on a cross country flight and absolutely could not put it down. The best impulse buy I've made in a long while. Was this review helpful?
