I only buy these books for the J. D. Robb novella, so I'm writing this review from a limited point-of-view. I normally enjoy the In Death Halloween novellas, but this one just didn't work for me. Maybe it's because I'm not that fond of the original story this is a knock-off of.

I bought this book only to read 33.5 of the "in death" series, which is all I have read. This short addition to the series is another good one. Of course the case wasn't as complicated as usual since the story was 10 chapters long. Personally for Eve Dallas, Roarke, and their friends they deal with the emotional after effects of the very personal case from "New York to Dallas." I do hope they address it a little more in "Celebrity in Death" since it wasn't touched on very much. The case seems unreal for the seasoned Lieutenant where it seems she is looking for a live monster. Another good read from J.D. Robb.

The stories weren't bad, they just weren't fleshed out. It seemed like maybe more was written, but someone edited them so they would fit into a certain amount of space. So sometimes they seemed to jump and not make sense

A must-have for JD Robb fans. JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) always weaves a good tale and this is no exception. Publication date right before Halloween was perfect for this compilation of romance stories with a supernatural twist.

Eve Dallas is back in New York after facing her monsters in Dallas, only to be confronted with a new one on her home turf. Three people are dead, viciously assaulted by someone who, well, looks like a monster. It was great to see Lt. Dallas back in form as she tackles the latest case. She and Peabody were again in typical mode, with their normal banter and investigating procedures. We also see brief interludes with some of the others but, yes, it was too brief. I'm not a fan of the novellas and this one doesn't do anything to change my opinion. Just as you settle back to immerse yourself in the case, it ends...just enough to whet your appetite but not quite enough to satisfy it. I'll still keep reading them and will continue to be a huge fan of the series but I'm glad I waited my turn at the library for this story.
