Overview

Daniel sees the job as an opportunity, a chance to learn his way around the legal world under the guidance of Johnnie Wells, the most successful divorce attorney in South Florida. Instead, he discovers an office dominated by his new boss, where the staff runs scared, and Wells stomps ruthlessly through lives using tactics that seem both incredibly brilliant and often, shockingly brutal.

Daniel soon learns that every move Johnnie makes has a motive - even when he introduces Daniel to his ex-wife Linda and talks about the videotapes he found of her with her last employer. None of it meshes with the soft-spoken and vulnerable woman Daniel sees in her. As his relationship with her grows, he realizes he must leave if they are to stay together.

Determined to escape the stain Johnnie left on them both, they move to North Carolina and begin building a life together. Linda turns to her passion of helping the needy. Daniel opens a new practice. Life seems simple and good, until he stumbles into a trial fraught with sexual betrayal. The sinuous web of manipulation and deceit he discovers is one where everyone has something to hide and the answers seem to cover more than they expose. With time running short he turns to Johnnie, hoping the man can work some of his magic and help him find the truth.

What he doesn’t know is that the truth will lead him to a stunning conclusion, one that teaches him how deep and dark the waters of seduction can run, and where everything he has ever known or loved will be put on the line. The deeper he digs, the more he uncovers, the more Daniel begins to understand that his world has just Unraveled.

About the Author

Trying to figure out when I started writing is like trying to decide when I started walking. The stories have always been there, rummaging around in my mind. Some went on paper. Most didn’t. I wrote my first novel when I was 22. Thankfully, I left it to the dustbin of history where it shall always remain.

Imagine the grin, yes, it was that bad.

Traditional wisdom dictates that necessity is the mother of invention. The need to pay tuition is what led to several years of work as a reporter and freelancer. The years were good and saw my name in print in a variety of markets from national publications to a local weekly that let me roam free and cover diverse topics from hobos to witches. Once the need faded however, so did most of the writing. I came back to fiction from a different type of need - not just to tell a story, but to tell one I'd like to read.

I grew up in North Carolina, which serves as a setting for a good bit of what I write. I’ve been to exotic parts of the world, many countries, and most states. None of them I know as well as the one I called home for most of my life. That background makes drawing characters from the people of the state easy, and often, when you read about a street, or a hill top, or even a spring gushing from the side of a mountain, you can find it in the state if you know where to look.
