Overview

For Kendall Martin, a remote village in Southwest Alaska seems like a good, safe place to start over. On the run from a dangerously abusive relationship, she leaves everything familiar behind and begins a new life as owner of a small souvenir and sportsman trading post in picturesque Staamat. The locals are friendly, the town welcoming, and she quickly acclimates to the slower, easier pace.

When she meets Denn Nulo, Staamat's Chief of Police, Kendall begins to believe there truly are good men in the world. Denn is everything she wants: strong, loving, dedicated to family, protective ... and patient. Instant attraction blooms between them, but Kendall is leery of men, and Denn craves a serious relationship that includes marriage and children. Their courtship is a conflicting mix of hesitancy and passion.

As Kendall learns how to trust again and her romance with Denn grows more intense, a local woman who has had her eye on Denn for years releases a torrent of damaging jealousy ... and the nightmare from Kendall's past discovers where she's hidden herself.

Kendall Martin is on the run. She¿s changed her name and appeara

Kendall Martin is on the run. She’s changed her name and appearance, and now she’s about to lose herself in the wilds of Alaska. All to avoid one man. But a very dangerous one.

Chief of Police in Staamat, Alaska, Denn Nulo is attracted to the new resident in town, but his instincts tells him she’s running from something. Or someone. But that doesn’t stop his desire for her, or for a relationship that will include a lifetime commitment.

As they feel their way toward something wonderful, a woman scorned is about to bring Kendall’s new world of security crashing down.

If that doesn’t grab you, then you’re no fan of romantic suspense. Ms. Chaffin has woven a completely captivating, riveting story of a broken soul and the man who wants to heal it. The characters are real and three dimensional. The writing pace is swift, urging you to keep turning the pages. Denn is the hero we all dream of, and Kendall is a strong woman who is willing to fight for the new life she’s found.

I truly can’t say enough about Unsafe Haven. Except, go grab your copy. You won’t be sorry.

This was romantic suspense at its best.  This was my first read

This was romantic suspense at its best.  This was my first read of Ms. Chaffin's stories, but it definitely will NOT be my last.  The author writes so descriptively that I thought I, personally, was experiencing the terror the heroine (Kendall) felt about her ex-boyfriend villian (Conroy), whom she escaped from in Oregon, and how warm and excited she felt about her new boyfriend (Denn), her new business and friends in Alaska.  While the story covered the very difficult subjects of mental and physical abuse and explained the residual trauma in victims' lives, it also described the heartfelt warmth of love of family and friendship.  The romance and courtship between Kendall and Denn, along with the relationship with Denn's teenaged daughter, Luna, made me fly through the pages to get to the "good parts" so that I could forget for a little while the horror of Kendall's ex-boyfriend.  There was not only justice for Kendall at the end of the story, there was also a lovely happy-ever-after.  Ms. Chaffin's writing made all of this come alive for me and I heartily recommend her stories to readers.

    Romance, Intrigue, Suspense and Passion

Unsafe Haven is a romantic, engaging, well-crafted love story with just the right amount of suspense. Char Chaffin once again works her magic as she weaves her story against the majestic beauty of Alaska. Her characters are engaging and come alive as they draw you into their journey of love, family, and new beginnings. This story has it all…romance, intrigue, suspense, and passion.

Char’s talent for words drew me in from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. This is truly a captivating story told by a very talented writer. A must read for anyone who loves to curl up with an enthralling romantic novel.
