Unsinkable: Getting Out of Life's Pits and Staying Out

Overview

Blindsided by those he loved and besieged by hardship and temptation, Joseph was resolute, refusing to cave in for anyone or for any reason. In Unsinkable, Pat Williams reveals how one of the Bible's most familiar characters held on tight to his God and transcended treachery, injustice, prison, and more to arrive at a place of unlimited power and possibility.

Through it all, Joseph never gave up; he became unsinkable. What made the difference in his life? And what will make the difference in yours? Williams takes a page from this ancient hero's playbook and applies four ageless principles to whatever you are facing today, illustrating his points with story after story from the lives of people such as Katie Couric and Michael Jordan.

No matter what adversity you're up against, there's great hope in this familiar saga. By emulating Joseph's extraordinary attitude and actions, you too can become unsinkable. Pat Williams has long been enamored with Joseph, one of the Bible's most intriguing and potent characters. By studying the dreamer's life carefully, Pat discovered a story so powerful, inspiring, and ultimately challenging, he found himself in awe.

In Unsinkable Pat pulls back the curtain of more than 3000 years to reveal a role model for the ages, an archetype of toughness, honor, grit, and greatness. "He lost his coat but kept his character," Pat writes. "He shaped his future instead of being shaped by it." With all that Joseph endured, his story could have had a very different ending, but he chose to stand firm, sprint from enticement, and adjust to adversity. From Joseph's story, Pat unlocks four "Life Preserver Principles": Always act responsibly. Run from temptation. Say "No" to despair Always say "Yes" to God. If you feel like you are sliding into your own personal pit, get a grip on Joseph's maxim for living above it all: "Whatever is bigger than I am, God is bigger than it is." Consider it your divine flotation device!

    'Well-reasoned and thoughtful...'

I love the Joseph story, and the author of this work does too! The principles from the (seeming) tragedies in Joseph's life are woven into that which God meant for good. If you love the Joseph story, you will enjoy this book. The scholarship seems sound. However, do not pass on a couple of other Joseph genre works that are somewhat more universal in their scope of application, and a bit more user-friendly: 'With Joseph in the University of Adversity' (if you find it!!), and 'God Meant it for Good'. Great story; good book.
