Overview

Charlotte Graham is at the center of the most famous kidnapping in Chicago history.

The task force of FBI and local cops found her two abductors, killed them, rescued her, but it took four very long years. The fact she was found less than three miles from her home, had been there the entire time, haunts them. She's changed her identity, found a profession she loves, and rebuilt her life.

She's never said a word--to the cops, to her doctors, to family--about those four years.

A family legacy has brought her back to Chicago where a reporter is writing a book about the kidnapping. The cops who worked the case are cooperating with him. Her options are limited: Hope the reporter doesn't find the full truth, or break her silence about what happened. And her silence is what has protected her family for years.

Bryce Bishop doesn't know her past, he only knows she has coins to sell from her grandfather's estate--and that the FBI director for the Chicago office made the introduction. The more he gets to know Charlotte, the more interested he becomes, an interest encouraged by those closest to her. But nothing else is working in his favor--she's decided she is single for life, she struggles with her faith, and she's willing to forego a huge inheritance to keep her privacy. She's not giving him much of an opening to work with.

Charlotte wants to trust him. She needs to tell him what happened. Because a crime cops thought was solved, has only opened another chapter...

Henderson (Full Disclosure) delivers. Her formula—strong Christian characters in unusual professions, love interests with noteworthy personal histories and authentic trials of faith—has produced another winner. Rare coin dealer Bruce Bishop is bored with ordinary success; he has the Midas touch, but business has become routine. Watch out: his prayers bring him Charlotte Graham, a tough but enigmatic rival whose loyal friends John and Ellie have hand-picked him to guide toward an unimaginable legacy she cannot inherit except under conditions she believes herself too broken to meet. As Bryce and Charlotte's relationship tiptoes toward much more than business, the shocking story she has hidden for nineteen years unfolds against a backdrop of heinous crime, daring police work, admirable friendship, and nonstop action. Minute details of the worlds of coin dealership and philanthropic giving, plot twists galore, and a supporting cast whose capacity to fight evil and win is just this side of over-the-top make this stand-alone novel a rip-roaring good read. Old fans and new readers alike will be delighted. (Oct.)

Bryce Bishop, owner of Bishop Chicago an old coin dealership, is bored with his life. Little does he know that his life is about to become very complicated and busy. Enter Charlotte Graham, who gets a nod of approval from Paul Falcon, Chicago's director of the FBI. Charlotte sets up a new store filled with old coins and tells Bishop that he has a week to decide if he wants to buy all the coins or she opens her store and puts Bryce out of business. Having no other choice, Bishop buys all the coins and begins to understand that there are alot more coins to buy and sell at a profit for his business. As Bryce and Charlotte build their business relationship, their friendship begins as well. Bryce learns that Charlotte was a part of Chicago's most famous kidnapping case. Charlotte has built a new life for herself, things from her past still need to be dealt with, but she remains mute on the subject. Find out how an unsolved murder case will bring full closure to Charlotte's kidnapping case. This complex and compelling story captured my attention from the very first page. I love how Henderson weaves together her characters. It is like meeting up with old friends. Charlotte's struggle with God is heart wrenchingly honest. The reader can empathize with her and thus the characters become three dimensional and take on a life of their own. These are real life struggles that do not have easy answers. I love that the readers feel these struggles and hurt right along side all of her characters. To me this is life, it isn't easy and sometimes gets messy and complicated. This book is a book that needs to be read multiple times in order to understand the rich story line each time it is read. My thanks to Bethany House publishers and Netgalley for the free e-copy to read and review.

This book was hard to read and hard to put down. The book was so well written it made me sad for the main female character. But it was so good I could not put it down! I love this author and she has another winner in UNSPOKEN.

The suspense in this book is really captivating. It caused both my wife and I to want to keep reading to find out what happened next. There are a number of layers of story going on throughout the book that no reader will get bored. It also has a straight forward gospel presentation.

Great book, great story with unexpected twists and turns. I loved the characters. There are interesting dynamics with faith and how bad things happen to good people. Made me think about my faith.

Way better than Full Disclosure, but still so far away from the character development of the O'Malley Series. Still a huge Dee Henderson fan and will continue reading whatever she writes, but something has dramatically changed in her writing style.

Dee Henderson has done it again.  Delivered a fast paced, heart pounding, suspenseful book – full of intrigue and a little romance, wrapped around the Gospel message.   What a book. Bryce Bishop walks out of work one night and meets a woman, who tells him he needs answer the call.  Just as his phone rings.  Reassured by a friend that this stranger has a story to tell and is backed by the FBI, Bishop walks into the storefront and enters a story with no  return. Charlotte Graham is hiding from her identity.  People recognize her as the victim of the most famous Chicago kidnapping.  She was gone for four years, and she’s never talked about them.  The ghosts of those years still surround her – haunting her days and nights.  She is struggling with her faith and wants to tell someone.  And she has the strangest business proposal ever. Charlotte and Bishop are first just business partners, and then friends.  As Bishop comforts Charlotte and begins to offer her the prayer and faith she longs for, the story only gets harder.  There was a baby that died… four years ago.  And Charlotte might know the kidnappers. This book kept me on the edge of my seat.  I couldn’t stop reading it.  I would put it down and go do something else, but then I would be back in my room reading.  I loved every minute of it.   Ms. Henderson is such a great author.  Her plot twists and turns, but you never get lost.  Suspenseful and deep, Unspoken will hold you spellbound. 5 out of 5 stars

Unspoken  Charlotte Graham's world was turned upside down when she was younger when she was kidnapped and trapped in a house for four years. After giving up hope that anyone would ever find her the cops bust in one day and save her. Flash forward years later and she shows up back to sell of her grandfathers coin collection to Bryce Bishop a local coin shop owner. Little does he know at the time that Charlotte isn't who he thinks she is and that things in his life will never be the same. My Review: This is the third new release of Dee Henderson's that I have read. I thought that she did a good job with this book but it was not one of my favorite books that I have read of hers. I thought in many ways that it was predictable and could have been a shorter novel than it was. There was only one storyline in the book that I did not expect that she had in there. One success that I think Dee always has with her books is that she really develops her characters very well. You as the reader really feel that you know the individual and could be a friend or family member of theirs. In addition, I also think that she does a good job of setting the scenes in the book. I really felt like I was at the different locations that she described in the book. I would recommend this book to author christian readers but I would not say that this is the best work that I have read of Dee's.
