Back to the Bible Leaders Show Readers How to Cultivate a Thriving Walk with Christ

When asked about their relationship with God, many believers say the Christian life "isn't working" or that they want "more than an okay walk." After conducting extensive survey research on what it takes to grow spiritually, Back to the Bible leaders Cole and Ross offer solid evidence for the power of Bible engagement. But more than statistics, Unstuck gives readers a practical and proven way to encounter Scripture daily, connect with God, and revitalize an otherwise listless faith. What People Are Saying

Patrick Morley

I just finished Unstuck and felt a kindred spirit as my heart raced in many places. Within a few pages I found myself lurching for a pen to underline and started folding corners. This book is outstanding, excellent in truth, very well written, and convincing. (Patrick Morley, founder and CEO of Man in the Mirror)

Jim Daly
As Christians we often talk about 'spiritual growth,' but for many it's a concept that remains elusive. With Unstuck, Michael Ross and Arnie Cole offer a blueprint for genuine growth in grace, grounded in the life-changing power of Scripture. (Jim Daly, President, Focus on the Family)

The premise for this book is the theory that every Christian becomes "stuck" in their walk and needs a little push to get back into the joy of following Christ. It's a 45 day challenge to encourage you to dig into the Bible and become reacquainted with God. At the end of each chapter is gives scripture and a question for the next several days. There is also a website to compliment the book and further your Bible study.

This book was a bit of a drag for me. I loved the idea and was really excited to read it. But after the personal testimonies were finished, in the first part of the book, I was stuck. I had to really make myself read through the rest of the book. It was so full of facts and research. I honestly couldn't see myself plowing through it if I was really stuck spiritually. It certainly isn't something I'd give a friend who confided being stuck. Just go read your Bible and don't bother with the book. I think the authors had a great idea and somehow it just didn't come through.

I received this book free of charge from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review.

    Great Christian Inspiration

Thanks Arnie Cole & Michael Ross for writing a great book. This book will greatly benefit anyone seeking a relationship with God. Anyone who already has a relationship with God but desires to become more intimate this book will be of value to you as well. The authors provide insight on how to achieve and strengthen a relationship with God. As we all know the bible plays a major role. However, the authors address the importance of not just reading the bible, but also the steps to engaging the bible. As this book states, if we want change, the bible is the key. It changes our hearts, our lives and strengthens us through proper engagement. We all experience moments when we feel stuck in situations and unable to move forward. But this book explains how allowing God to help us with our struggles enables us to become unstuck. This book can serve as a blueprint or the foundation we need to start building a relationship with God by engaging in God’s word. I was truly amazed by the fact that there are Christians don’t know the word of God, especially when He speaks to us through his word. The scriptures listed at the end of each chapter were a bonus and the encouraging nudges does just that, provides encouragement. Encourages us to connect with God, regardless of our situation or sins he’s always there not only does he forgive but he will also see us through. After each chapter, I became inspired and ready to become unstuck using the steps outlined. Thanks Bethany House Publishing for providing me with a free copy, giving me the opportunity to read well written book.

Arnie Cole and Michael Ross have created a great book entitled, "Unstuck: Your Life. God's Design. Real Change". This book attempts to help us draw closer to God in our spiritual life, through a series of chapters that delve into the heart of why we tend to "stall out" in our spiritual lives, how to overcome those setbacks, and through them, grow as Christians. What I thought was interesting about this book was the amount of statistical data that was available - numbers and percentages of people who read their Bible every day, and what situations are temptations for men vs. women. I thought it was very interesting to see this information. I think that Arnie and Michael offer up quite a bit of valuable and insightful information about keeping the wheels moving, so to speak, on our spiritual journey. Each chapter ends with a "research reveals", "encouraging nudge", and "spiritual stepping stones". The "research reveals" offers up a fact about our spiritual life, revealed through research. "Encouraging nudge" offers a short, but inspirational paragraph reiterating the message of the chapter, and encouraging you to follow through on the ideas presented. "Spiritual stepping stones" are a series of a few scriptures to memorize, and a question to meditate on related to that scripture. I thought that this book was a really good reminder of how our walk can slow to a near stop, and that it requires a daily choice, and daily effort to maintain that relationship with Christ.

A Surprisingly Honest Take on the Impact of the Bible

If you're anything like me, you may have grown cold to the idea that reading your Bible every day is important, and bristle whenever you hear someone robotically quote Isaiah 55:11 as the rationale for including Bible verses as a part of everything they do.

And surprisingly in Unstuck, Arnie Cole and Michael Ross seem to be in agreement.

According to them, the reason people who sit in church every Sunday lead lives that look just like everyone else's is because casual exposure to the Bible doesn't really make a difference. We actually have to engage it if we want to see a change.

Which sounds great until you remember that you're not even actually casually reading the Bible right now anyway...and in addressing this, the book really begins to shine.

Through both real stories and documented research, Unstuck demonstrates the impact the Bible can have on our lives when we're willing to spend time with it outside of exhaustive studies or regimented reading programs. Getting unstuck isn't a formula, it's a continual process of being willing to let God's truth impact the way we think about, and ultimately live out, our lives.
