Overview

Christy Miller is now an independent nineteen-year-old college student living in Switzerland, where she's been attending an international university. After being on her own for nearly a year, Christy is surprised and delighted when her two closest friends, Todd and Katie, come to Switzerland to spend the summer break traveling around Europe.

The three of them have very different expectations for the trip that threaten to make the time together much less pleasant than it could be. The tension increases when time runs short, and Christy is overwhelmed with the realization that she will soon have to say good-bye to Todd all over again. Do they have the kind of love that will last until tomorrow?

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
A Promise Is Forever saw Christy traveling around Europe with friends, wondering about the status of her relationship with God and Todd. Nothing has changed. While attending college in Switzerland, Christy makes plans with Todd and her best friend, Katie, to spend several weeks backpacking in Europe. Tensions mount from the moment Todd and Katie step off the train, and within days, three friendships are stretched to the edge. Christy prays for guidance about her relationship with Todd, but she doesn't listen very well. Even though she and Todd reach a semi-resolution, and her friendship with Katie survives, Christy's whiny "Lord, why me?" attitude quickly wears on the nerves. Meet the Author

Robin Jones Gunn has a passion for communicating God's love to young hearts. She began writing story books for toddlers when her children were little. Her husband, Ross, has been a youth minister for over twenty years. While on a camping trip with teens from their youth group, Robin found some of the girls hiding away in their tent reading a stack of novels they'd brought with them from the library.

Curious as to what could keep these girls away from the sun, surf and guys, Robin borrowed three of their books. As she read them, her heart broke. They were not the kinds of stories these girls should be reading! After the camping trip Robin went to her Bible bookstore and bought every book she could find that she thought would be interesting for the girls and have a good influence on them. The teens read all the books in a week and asked for more. "There aren't any more," Robin told them. "That was all I could find." The teens challenged Robin by saying, "Then you write some for us. We'll even tell you what to write!"

She has now written over 50 books, including THE CHRISTY MILLER SERIES, which has sold more than one million copies. A storyteller at heart, she is also a popular speaker and an active youth worker. Robin lives with her family in Oregon.

I love the way Robin Jones Gunn makes the characters seem real, as if you were right there with the Christy. This book is romantic without going over the top. If you have read the Christy Miller series then be sure not to miss reading this book!

If you read the Christy Miller series, you had to fall in love with the romance of Todd Spencer and Christy Miller. This book takes them through a journey of self-discovery in their relationship. It's a MUST READ. By far the best book involving Christy. Certain parts will have you in tears, and you'll adore the end!

I absolutly love this book!! It was so worth the wait! Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I have been reading the 'Christy Miller' series for 5 years and was excited when I found out there was going to be a series of Christy's college years so I could find out Christy and Todd's future. THIS WAS AN EXELLENT BOOK WITH A BREATH-TAKING ENDING!! I can't wait for 'As You Wish'-the next book in this series.

This book was terrible - no plot, it was written like a 7th grader was the story teller. It's a good thing it was free.

Can't say I was enthralled. Read 3/4 of it and was bored. It's ok but not enough to keep me going.

I love this book it definatly deserves about 9 or 10 stars, Robin Jones Gunn is absolutly my favorite author ever. I own all of her books From The Christy Miller Series, Sierra Jensen series, to the ones she wrote for toddlers like Mrs Rosey Posey and the chocolate cherry treat. I'm very attatched to these books they bring me great joy everytime I read them (which is at least 2-3 times A YEAR) But if your going to read this book you have to read The Christy Miller Series and the Sierra Jensen series first, then go on to the wonderful world of Glenbrook. You'll find yourselves in a deep relationship with the Caracters in no time, Christy and Katie are my bestfriends.

This book is so amazing, it made me feel great different emoticons that one day i hope to feel. I am in love with this book and wish to read all the rest in the series. And i think doing a series like this is the best idea in the world, not to mention they are Christian. I just love this book, i am feeling so many mixed emoticons on how amazing this is. It made me think a lot too, like the need is not the call, and a bunch of other stuff. This book is so beautiful and one day i will read the whole series. And i hope to one day marry someone like todd. ;)

If you ever read the Sierra Jensen series, you kinda have to go back in time a little bit to know where this one begins, but this book is one of my favorites! I love how it talks about each place they go to and all the neat things they get to do. It makes me want to go to Europe so bad! But I absolutely love how Christy and Todd's story continues to unfold in this 1st book of the college series. It was so good that I could hardly put it down! Once again, Robin Jones Gunn did a great job!
