Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Caitlin Marineau
Amicus's "Up in Space" series discusses the Solar System's two outermost planets in Uranus and Neptune. Author Mist first examines the planet Uranus, explaining that it is made almost entirely out of gas, describing the length of its year and day, and touching on Uranus' many moons. Mist then delves into the planet Neptune, the final planet in the Solar System, explaining that it takes 165 Earth years for this distant planet to orbit the sun, and illustrating its faint rings. Finally, the author mentions the five dwarf planets, including Pluto, Eris, and Ceres. The information is basic, and the text large and easy to read, making it ideal for young students. More inquisitive readers will probably be left with questions, as the text is brief and only touches on concepts. The text also includes a glossary for more complex terms. The title would best be purchased with the series to allow early readers to familiarize themselves with the various bodies in the Solar System. Reviewer: Caitlin Marineau
