Meet the Author

Shelley has been quilting for well over 20 years, having started when "quilting wasn't cool!" Both her grandmothers quilted in different styles and each passed on her knowledge and love of quilting. Shelley lives in beautiful Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. When she's not busy designing, quilting, working at the shop, or walking a trade show, she enjoys shopping, home decorating, reading, and if there's still time left over, working in her yard.

Jeanne learned to sew as a young girl from her mom and her Auntie Alice. She grew up sewing garments for herself, and then moved on to sewing for her five children, often creating something original and unique. Quilting was a natural progression from garment sewing and continues to fill a need to create. Time to spend on other hobbies such as basket weaving and woodworking is rare as the number of grandchildren grows and work commitments increase; however, there is always time to sew.

    Various projects and country colors

Eleven pages of basic technique starts this book. It is followed by 15 projects using piecing, applique and embroidery sewing skills.

Most projects are shown in rustic earth tones with one in a brighter pink and green. But you can always use whatever colors go with the room or person you are making it for. Nothing is written in stone here.

It has all the standard information, photo, sizes of quilt and block, material and cutting lists, easy to follow directions and graphics. No specific quilting directions are given.

The last page provides a bio of the authors along with their web site. There are plenty of ideas and techniques to keep you quilting for quite a few months with a wide variety of projects such as wall hangings, pillows, table toppers and quilts.

This book, like all Martingale/Patchwork Place books, is a great

This book, like all Martingale/Patchwork Place books, is a great value. Fifteen projects, and varied projects, will give you lots to choose from. There is a great 'basics' section...at the front of the book. The projects are simple, but they are not 'basic'. They are all really lovely. This would make a great gift book for your favorite quilter!
