Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Whether I'm traveling on assignment, getting ready for a black tie event, or just plain want to look 'urban skinny,' Danielle tells me how to do it. Choose wine or dessert, eat protein and fat, and never consume sodium the day before you squeeze into a gown. Above all, count calories! Danielle will literally circle her choices for you on a takeout menu. Read this book and it will change your caloric life." —Alina Cho, National Correspondent, CNN"I went on the Urban Skinny program twelve years ago to lose ten pounds, and not only did I lose the weight, but I've managed to keep it off ever since—in spite of living in New York City, traveling sometimes more than half the month, and eating out more than 90% of the time. Moreover, the program's balanced, nonrestrictive, logical approach to food and diet has enabled me to form and maintain a healthy relationship with food for the first time in my life. Urban Skinny has kept me both skinny and sane throughout all of life's challenges, hurdles, and celebrations." —Amy Wigler, Vice President of Marketing, Logo by MTV Networks "As a runway and print model who has appeared across the globe, I am wary of the notion that only industry insiders understand the pressures of staying 'fit.' Danielle immediately understood my goals and put me at ease. Indeed, I often found myself laughing; for she was funny even while being firm (but fair) when creating my personalized plan. We cut out foods that would deter from the svelte look models are supposed to have. We targeted belly fat. I went on to walk the New York Fashion Week Campaign and even with Naomi Campbell. If you take weight and health seriously, it is a must to be guided by two sides of a coin—a trainer and a certified nutritionist. I found this in Danielle, whose holistic approach encompasses physical, mental, and emotional dimensions." —Anjhula Singh Bais, model, Elite Model Management and Models One "I have worked with Danielle for eleven months, during which time I have lost almost fifty pounds. As I approach my fiftieth birthday, I am reinventing my life as a musical theatre producer. Working with Danielle I have also reinvented my approach to eating. Under Danielle's tutelage I have learned to integrate delicious, healthy food and drink into my fast–paced life of networking and socializing without ever feeling deprived. With her new book, everyone can experience the wonder that is Danielle!" –Gwyn Osnos, co lead producer of the forthcoming Broadway musical Wanda's World "There are expectations in my profession to look the best you can at all times. Danielle taught me to change my diet to fit my life, not my life to fit my diet. The results were astonishing! I lost weight I didn't even know I had!"—Justin Bruening, actor

Danielle Schupp works at the hottest fitness club in New York City with A-List clients and is one of the most sought-after registered dietitians both in New York and around the world. She counsels more than sixty clients a week in person, on the phone, and online from her office at Reebok Sports Club/NY in Manhattan. She’s currently working with the club to develop a line of calorie conscious meals to be sold under the Urban Skinny banner. Danielle appears regularly on television. Her spitfire personality and no-nonsense, straight shooting methods have thrust her into the spotlight. She’s made appearances on Entertainment Tonight; she’s refereed an employee weight loss challenge on Live With Regis and Kelly; and she’s appeared frequently on ABC affiliates covering topics that range from understanding calorie labels to making fitness resolutions. Her to-the-point weight management tips and insight have been featured in a variety of publications including Self, Marie Clare, Redbook and Forbes. Shape asked her to give food tips for a story on staying fit while injured. Town and Country and Modern Bride tapped into Danielle’s nutritional consulting by having her tell brides how to get slim without starving themselves. ESPN Magazine called on Danielle to critique the diets of five pro-athletes including Kobe Bryant, and to make suggestions that would help them boost performance. OK! And US Weekly often have Danielle as their red carpet analyst to assess stars like Jessica Simpson and topics like fitness and pre-natal nutrition. In her practice she counsels musicians, movie stars, athletes, Wall Street movers, and entertainment industry shakers. She's the exclusive nutrition consultant to the Miss Universe Organization. She teaches her clients to ignore the roadblocks and navigate the city's many weight-loss challenges. Danielle has been a registered dietitian and a sports nutritionist for almost fifteen years. She loves to travel, collect antiques, and much to her husband’s chagrin, she loves to buy really expensive decorative pillows. Pilates is her favorite weekend workout. Danielle earned her degree in nutritional science/dietetics from Cornell University and her dietetic internship from Columbia University. She is accredited by the American Dietetics Association and holds a Weight Management Certification. She lives in Manhattan with her candy-loving husband Michael. Stephanie Krikorian is an award-winning TV journalist who has covered news on six continents. She’s covered two Olympics, two Super Bowls, the red carpet at the Grammy’s, the unrest in Israel, and both the Pope and Jimmy Carter’s visit to Cuba. She's a travel junkie, a self-proclaimed foodie, wine enthusiast, and yoga nut. Every Monday night she takes a pole-dancing class. Stephanie studied English and Drama at the University of Western Ontario and holds a Master of Science degree in TV, Radio and Film from Syracuse University. She was born and raised in Canada, and currently resides in Manhattan.

    Loved It!

If you want a little humor and great tips to EAT HEALTHY, the author is a dietian/nutionist and explains how to go out to eat and eat right. It is a motivating book which helped me not to be scared when friends invite me over for dinner or out to dinner. It has great food logs and a calorie counter chart so you can be healthy and lose weight. I still read chapters in this book whenever I need a little inspiration. This book does not tell young girls to starve themselves but how to make great choices and eat in moderation! Every woman needs this book.
