    A hauntingly beautiful expression

I am not usually inclined to offer my opinion on musical recordings given the high variability in personal taste, but Peter Gabriel's work on ''Us'' is cause for an exception to this rule. I think what makes this album so moving is, as another rater pointed out, the raw expression present in the lyrics and melody. The individual songs are layered with emotion and actually take on different meaning upon repeated exposure. The music stays with you long after you've stopped listening. I've had this album for years and never seem to outgrow it.

    An intimate Collage of Feelings

This is not Gabriels most innovative album, and it does not pretend to be so. What makes 'Us' a masterpiece is the fact that this is an album in which its author puts his soul naked, demostrating that he also is a man who can laugh, cry, and everything in between. The music in Us is beautiful, combinning pop with ethnic instrumentation like only Peter Gabriel can do.
