Ward, founder of Use What You Have Interiors, shares her ten design considerations, such as making a comfortable conversation area, identifying a room's focal point, and using light correctly, for transforming homes into livable, attractive spaces. She devotes a chapter to each of these principles with before-and-after pictures of clients' homes, identifying what the problems are and how to correct them. In each case, she includes a list of what was eliminated, borrowed from other rooms, or bought. Focusing on living and dining rooms, Ward concludes with a brief discussion of kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Never advocating a particular style, except for an uncluttered look, her book will be a practical purchase for public libraries.

    This book absolutely changed the way I feel about my home. I love my home now. I knew I had all the right things, but somehow I never knew how to put it all together. This book teaches you the basics of interior design and the do's and don'ts, which was very helpful. All I bought were 2 pillows and changed my living room around so that it is so beautiful to me now. I never felt comfortable in my own living room, but now I do and it's fantastic. It's changed my whole outlook on my home and now I'm rearranging everything. You don't need any money to do it. Like it says, "Use what you have decorating".

    Very Helpful

    I immediately used a few a of the tips from the book and am planning to use others.
    If you are thinking about throwing everything out...just because you want a "new look," get this book FIRST.
    I am always impressed when I can see results.

    GREAT BOOK

    I have recommended this book and loaned it to people. It is an invaluable guide for redecorating. When you think you want to go on a spending spree and change your house- go for this book instead and it will challenge your creativity with satisfaction.

    Decorating With What You Have

    I borrowed this book from a friend and then bought my own copy because I learned so much and keep referring to it. Besides being an excellent reference it is the most practical and useful decorating book I've read.

    A Must-Have

    No other book has taught me how to correct my decorating mistakes and dramatically changed the way my home looks the way this one has. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to give their home a quick makeover without spending money.

    Use What You Have Decorating: Transform Your Home in One Hour with Ten Simple Design Principles Using...

    I already wrote a review in September, but felt the need to write again. My sister wanted to borrow the book because I was so excited about how it changed my outlook on my home. She read it and changed her apartment around and she was just as excited as I was. I highly recommend this book to everyone and it would be a great gift for anyone with a home or apartment. I have never been this impressed by any book. It is extremely well written and presented. Thank you so much.

    A Really Good Buy

    I originally went to buy something else, but this caught my eye. After skimming through the book, I realized it was worth it. My place looks a world better already and I haven't spent a dime. This is worth the buy.

    Fresh eyes for your old possessions

    Get out of the habit of thinking 'Bigger! Add on!' This book helps you realize that what you already have is worth keeping and showing, if only you can look at it with fresh eyes! It saved me a lot of money and the results were fabulous.
