Good value. One book for both R3 and R4

As a student in industrial design I found that this book do has a good balance on both concepts and tutorials, especially on all those parametric solid modeling, assembly modeling, and sheet metal modeling. The free-of-charge online companion is the best I ever found. It's free and it's user friendly. The Pack and Go, epicyclic mechanism and adaptive assembly tutorials are especially interesting and useful. They help me solve a lot of real world problems when I am doing my part time job. I recommend to save your money and use this book for both R3 and R4.

Save Yourself Some Grief, Buy This Book

This book is a very comprehensive tutorial for the fledgling solid modeler. The exercises are well developed and always preceeded by a thorough introduction. In contrast, the tutorials and documentation included with the Inventor 3 software are barely adaquate to introduce real-world modeling. I found Cheng's book to be a great tool for getting up to speed and the cost of the book is a small price to pay for the time I saved!

    Using Inventor in a day

Accompanying this book is a CD with which you can start using Inventor and learn how to construct 3D models in a day. If you are a K 12 or college student, you are elligible to purchase Inventor at a very low student price.
