Overview

For those who hung around the streets, parks and bridges of Paris in the late 60's, the street artist, Maurice Utrillo, was an inspiration. In Utrillo's Children the author shares his memories of a time when young people were questioning authority, government, the war in Vietnam and why young men were being sent there to die for a cause that was not clear. The author relives his time in Paris during a volatile era of riots, revolution, drugs and corrupt government and shares his story of survival during those turbulent times.

About the Author

Robert H. Dick, is a native of Missouri. Born in Kansas City in l943, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and a Masters Degree in American History from Central Missouri State University. Additional graduate work was completed in French History and Economics at the University of Missouri at Columbia. He has done additional work at Harvard, Yale, and Columbia University, New York. As an artist, he has been the recipient of numerous awards, and has several successful one-man exhibitions. He co-authored the book, An American Art Colony: The Art and Artists of Saint Genevieve, Missouri, l930 -- 1940, which won the Missouri Governor's Award in 2005. This was followed in 2006 by: The Art Colonies of Santa Fe & Taos, New Mexico: l956 --2006. As an illustrator, he did the drawings, bronzes and photography for Andrea Paulette's book, The Lost Perspective of the Painted Lady: Memoirs of an Artist Model, 2004. Robert Elliot Press.

In 2011, a twelve year project was completed called: Missouri History In Bronze, which is now in the permanent collection of the Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri, St. Louis.

He lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, Mary Ellen. They have three children, Elizabeth Joan (born. l969), Konrad (born l973) and Meredith (born l976) and two grandsons, Charles and Konrad Gerhart.
