VACATION TURBULANCE

Kate rummaged through the mail. She hesitated to open the envelope that read Congratulations! Open immediately! When she opened the envelope, she discovered she had won a trip for four to Cancun. It included a five-day four-night stay on an island. They just had to make the travel arrangements. Her dad could not go, but her Uncle Frank wanted to fly them there.
Once in the air, they go through some dark clouds. Lightning strikes the plane, and it fries the instruments. The rain gets so bad that they lose visuals. The plane crashes. Kate woke up to feel that her face had swollen on one side, her arm was sore, and her leg was hurting. She found her uncle pinned down by the dashboard. His girlfriend, Beth, had a broken arm and leg. While Frank was trying to call on the radio, Kate found some sticks and clothing to make splints for Beth. Frank discovered that the radio must have fried in the lightning strike.
Uncle Frank had gotten weak; he had slept a lot. Beth wasn't moving or responding much either. Kate tried the radio one more time and broke down crying from being so overwhelmed and exhausted. She took out a notepad and wrote everything that had happened. She decided that staying on the plane would be a terrible idea and wrote a note telling what direction she headed off in. An apparition made itself known, that she should look for help. Kate ran into her dad and part of a search party. Help was called in to assist. Frank and Beth were in too bad of shape to be hauled by land. People welcomed them home warmly.
