Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
It does not seem possible that Cam Jansen has been around for twenty-five years, but the sticker on the book notes that this is a 25th anniversary publication. Cam is excited because her mother is expecting a baby, and it looks like her new sister will be born on Valentine's Day. Cam heads off to the hospital with her best friend Eric Shelton and his mother. The mystery starts when Mrs. Shelton's purse, which contains her car keys, appears to be missing. It takes Cam's photographic and deductive skills to help catch the person who has been stealing purses to get car keys and then hijacking cars from the hospital parking lot. The book has a great ending because Cam not only gets a new sister but also a brother. The twins are wrapped in blankets covered with hearts to give this book more Valentine appeal. It is an interesting mystery and a pleasant story for those starting to read chapter books. The last part of the book reprises some of the earlier stories which may encourage kids to go and get them from the library to read more of Cam's mystery-solving adventures. 2005, Viking/Penguin, Ages 7 to 9.

I bought this as the favor to give out at my daughters 8th birthday party in Feb., The girls loved this book and I love giving a book versus a gift bag of dollar store stuff that get trashed the same day. I even read this book so I could discuss with my daughter and it was entertaining to see how an 8 year old might miss clues and how her thought process might work., Definitively a must buy for your little girl

This is a good book because of three reasons. First, this is a very good mystery story, which is true of alot of Cam Jansen books. It was hard to figure out. It was also a very complicated story. Next, there were alot of familiar characters that were still interesting. Last, This story is very exciting; for example, the biggest mystery is how they are going to find the stolen purse, and keep the car theif away. You will enjoy this wonderful exciting mystery story!

I like it because I like spying but I think there should be more illustrations. I like it when it is realistic because the children at school are jealous that Cam is going to have a new sister.
