It did have several typos that you had to decipher the real word. It lagged in a couple of places but overall a very good story. I love stories that surprise me!!!

'Valentine' shows the danger of fooling with those you don't know anything about. Victor Di Morta was already scarred psychologically when he reached Hartley college what should have been a breakthrough for him turns to trauma when a group of girls play a cruel prank on him made crueler by the fact he is already disturbed at the hands of abusive parents. 'Valentine' is an excellent character study of this perpetrator and his attackers. I felt DiMorta was perfectly justified in doing what he did, especially to Sharon Williams, and I thought the murdering of his parents was deserved. One sympathizes with all the characters throughout, but DiMorta is the most compelling, the kind of sympathetic perpetrator one would think of Ethan Black having created. Forget the 'Valentine' movie. This is the real thing and the story that should have been filmed. Remember at the start of 'Baby Jane' when the child Blanche looks into the camera and says 'I won't forget. You BET I won't forget.' This is the story of one who lives by that principle.

The ending was one of the best i've seen in a long time. Tom Savage actually fullfilled what mystery and suspense should be in fiction.

I first read 'Valentine' about seven years ago, when I found it in a bin at work. The title and author were unknown to me at the time and the book impressed me on an initial reading. I am happy to say it still does; on a reread I'd found there were still some details that eluded me, but even knowing as much as I did, Savage's skills at characterization and plot development make the story compelling. What is essentially an ordinary stalker story is made fresh and exciting. And without spoiling anything, what makes the book interesting is how Savage objectifies everyone's motives--even the killer's in the book--so one knows why everyone behaves as they do, and as a result a little compassion for each is generated. Itis a shame the movie did not film Savage's story as is, for it is far superior to what was presented onscreen. If your knowledge of the movie has kept you from reading the book don't let it; 'Valentine' is worth the experience.

I have read a lot of books but I would have to say it is my favorite! The ending will hit you in the face (you will understand what I mean when you read it)! Read it now!

I really loved the book. Couldn't put it down. In facted I am reading it again right now. I just love how you think this person is the one who did it, but then you find out it was another person. I went and watched the movie when it came out in theaters. I liked it. It had the same suspense as the book. But the book was better. I think that all people who like suspense should read this book.

If you need a good suspense novel, this book is for you. It's a definite page turner and the most unpredictable book you will ever read. If you love deep plots and big surpriser books, this is a definite must read. There's a HUGE twist at the end that will leave you breathless and you will NEVER suspect it! If you start this book be prepared to be awake ALL night reading this book!!!!

This book was the most unpredictable thing in the world, right when you think you know you have no idea. It keeps you guessing and at the edge of your seat from the first page down to the very last. A definite must read!

When I saw the cover of the book, it looked like a stupid romance book. I later saw the movie & I remember on the cover it said 'Now a major motion picture.' I then new this was a book for me because it had all the right stuff: mystery, suspence, worry, romance. The ending will absolutely blow you away. From what I've read on the internet, Tom is a wonderful writer, but he needs to write more books. Don't miss the chilling movie (one of the best movies ,but it has a different plot than the book & it is not even near as good as the book.) & you definately can't miss the book.

I made the tremendous mistake of going to see the movie 'based' on this novel by Warner Bros. instead of reading the book first. The real victim of the movie is the book. They butchered it! If people don't read the book, they'll never realize what a great suspenseful plot and characters the movie could have had. I'm bad, I skipped to the end to see exactly what was going on, but I was still constantly asking 'how' did the culprit manage to do the things he did. A really engrossing read.

I can ALWAYS figure out whodunit, except in the case of Tom Savage's books. This is the first of two that I read in one weekend and I was fooled by the ending in both this book and Scavenger. I could not stop reading Valentine until it was finished and then immediately went to Scavenger. I'm only sorry I could not find more Tom Savage books. I can't wait to get caught up with him and then I will be in agony until the next one comes out. Like all great suspense writers, he doesn't churn these out like Harliquen Romances -- there is some actual thought that goes into the writing. I'm just blown away!

I have recommended this book to so many people!!! The only problem with Tom Savage is he doesn't write enough books. This book is a real page turner and just when you think you know where its going, boy are you surprised. A really great book!!!!

I thought Valentine was a very good book. I loved the suspense. It kept your interest from beginning to end. I recommend it highly.

From beginning to end of this true tale of terror, you will be on the edge of your seat. Coming from a horror/suspense fanatic, whether book or movie, one of the best books i've ever picked up!

enjoyed this book very much, great ending, I couldn't put it down

Don't get me wrong, this isn't really a bad book. In fact the first chapter held my interest but after that you could feel where the book was headed. Savages' use of misdirection was good but you had a sense who the killer was all the time. There's a reason why the killer wears a mask in the movie, and not in the book.

Trust me this is an excellent book! Go and buy it right now! My congratulations to the author. It will really creap you out on Valentine´s Day. I hope the movie is as good as the book. I recommend both the movie and the book, even though I have not seen the movie yet. EXCELLENT BOOK!!

It's unfortunate that I ever bought Valentine. Unfortunate because I couldn't put it down and didn't leave the house until it was finished! It grabs you from page 1 and doesn't let you go until the mystery is resolved. The twists are abundant everywhere and work well within the plot. Overall, Mr. Savage has a novel that has complex, interesting characters and a nice writing style that will keep you hooked until the end. It has since become one of my favorite novels of all time.

I could not put this book down. Most novels of this type do not keep me at the edge of my seat, but this one did. And WOW!!! What an ending. I am recommending this book to everyone! (Unfortunately the movie looks like it may not follow the book that closely and may be really bad)
