More About This Book

Overview

Conner Hayden is certain he survived his near-death experience for a reason. He thinks it’s to save the life—and soul—of Mitch Kent. Mitch’s body remains on life support while his spirit is trapped with the old farmer Howard Bristol in the Interworld—a strange and dangerous dimension that Conner narrowly escaped during his brush with death in Pawlik’s award-winning debut novel, Vanish. Meanwhile, in the Interworld, Mitch receives a warning from a mysterious stranger: Howard is not who he appears to be, and Mitch must flee immediately. Pursued by Howard and a terrifying creature, Mitch soon learns the truth about what happened to him and that his only hope of survival lies at the very edge of the Interworld.

An Edge of Your Seat Read

Tom Pawlik has proven he is not a one-hit wonder. With this sequel to his award-winning book, Vanish, the author takes the reader on a harrowing journey through the Interworld where souls sometimes pass through on their way from this earthly realm to their eternal destinations.

Conner narrowly escaped his brush with death during Pawlik's first book. He subsequently finds a life of faith. Through an encounter with a former client, Jim Malone, who saves the life of Devon Marshall, a boy who was with Conner at the Bristol Farm while Conner was in limbo. Conner knows there is someone in the Interworld he must assist. He believes that person is Mitch Kent who remains on life support while his spirit is trapped. His quest to help Mitch brings him too close to another death experience.

Tom Pawlik takes the reader on an emotional journey as well. He deftly demonstrates Satan's wiles, and how the master of deceit will parade as an angel of light to keep us tricked and away from God's mercy. The book also demonstrates the power of God to break through barriers to win the soul of man, even a comatose victim whose life hangs in the balance.

The author brings the characters to life. And the reader feels the author's created environment. One identifies with Nathan who is sent to help Mitch escape Howard Bristol's clutches. The weave between this current world and the Interworld is masterfully done There are shadows, and monsters, and light and darkness. An edge of your seat read and keep the pages turning.

Tom Pawlik subtly uses his cast and story line to bring his message of spiritual choices and healing to the reader

Connor Hayden died from a heart attack (see VANISH) and his spirit was sent to Interworld, a place that connects the mortal realm with the spiritual one. Having been resuscitated, Connor checks on those people who died and were resurrected that same night. He finds out about Devon, Mitch and a few others. Some went to the other side. Mitch is in a coma while Devon is in juvenile prison when a stranger, someone he brought back from the other side, helps him escapes and tries to "save him-------------

Mitch is in Interworld with farmer Howard Bristol who is keeping him alive preventing him from moving on thanks to a deal he made with Death. If he keeps him there too long, Mitch's body will die in the mortal world and his spirit go to hell. God has allowed Nathan, a spirit like him, to help him return to his body on the mortal plane. Devon's "helper" orders him to kill but his family and the Good Samaritan makes him hesitate. Connor is led to the Bristol farm to learn the truth of farmer Howard Bristol.-----------------

The lesson in VALLEY OF THE SHADOW is that people take actions and must be held responsible and accountable for them even when influenced by malevolence like Howard, the personification of evil who intends to abuse God's will to turn the flock from the lord. This inspirational supernatural thriller never deeply preaches (though more so than its predecessor); as Tom Pawlik subtly uses his cast and story line to bring his message of spiritual choices and healing to the reader. Filled with twists including a great finishing one, this is an emotional uplifting thriller.---------

    I Also Recommend:

Valley of the Shadow picks up where Vanish left off.

Tom Pawlik has created another masterpiece in Valley of the Shadow. It picks up where Vanish left off.

Conrad tries desperately to share with his wife, daughter, co-workers and friends what happened to him in Vanish. Most turn a deaf ear to him. But Conrad is desperate to help Mitch who's still in a coma and to figure out the mystery with Howard.

About half of the book is told from Mitch's perspective. He struggles to get away from Howard with the help of a mysterious stranger. A shocking revelation forces Mitch to choose between death and life.

I highly recommend this book for anyone's personal library.
