Written in parable-like format, Dr. Kenneth Majer weaves a tale that demonstrates how to apply key elements of leadership based on solid personal values. The principles in this book provide a great foundation for aligning an organization in an ethically based culture and illustrate the positive impact leaders with integrity can have on business performance, and , just as important, in personal and family life as well.

About the Author:
Dr. Ken Majer has been a successful consultant and senior executive for over thirty years. He is best known as a leadership specialist skilled in corporate strategy, identity/branding, organizational alignment, change management, reskilling, and corporate communications. Majer is an effective strategist with proven ability in coaching executives and managers at multiple levels. His special emphasis is on using corporate values as a method for aligning culture.

Dr. Majer is founder and CEO of San Diego-based MajerStrategies, Inc., whose vision is to help companies stay ahead of the curve and adapt to new realities in today’s radically changing business world. He is also currently a San Diego Chairman of TEC, an International Organization of Chief Executives Working Together, and a key advisor to the Leadership Institute for Entrepreneurs at the University of San Diego.

Majer’s clients include AT&T, Citibank, GTE, Motorola, Moore Corporation, Navigational Technologies, Pacific Gas & Electric, Sharp HealthCare, State Farm Insurance, Netscape, Nissan Corporation, Intel, Toyota Financial Services, the U.S. Government, and many other large and small companies and government agencies.

Ken Majer has been an invited speaker to numerous conferences, including two addresses at the White House on the Consumer and Financial Services Industry. Living Values Based Leadership

This book provides a great illustration of how individual values are collectively represented in the organization, and how these values make a big difference to how your organization is seen by your customers (current and prospective), as well as the people who work for your organization. The most critical questions of 'Do I want to do business with this company?' and 'Do I want to work for this company?' ultimately are answered by the leadership of the company and values the company lives by. This book does a great job of bringing 'values based leadership' to life.

    Lead Your Team

The concepts are simple and easy to apply. Effective leadership produces a good team. Values based leadership produces cohesive, exceptional winning teams. Ken's book is the competitive edge we are all looking for and the solution to the frustrations we see when our team is not all heading for the same goal. Best of all, Ken doesn't waste the reader's time with filler. It's all meat !

    I actually learned something

I wish all business related books were written this way. So often these book are written by either gigantic ego or academics that couldn't order fast food let alone run a business. This book told a story, told it well and ended with a lesson. A lesson about leadership that everyone that runs an organization needs to know.

It seems with all the pressure put on executives to deliver the 'bottom line,' more are forgetting the fundemental requirements to retain quality people and succeed --- integrity.
