Editorial Reviews

VOYA - Eileen Kuhl
The thrilling pirate and vampire adventure continues in this third installment of a series that began with Demons of the Ocean (Little, Brown, 2006/VOYA December 2006). Grace and Connor are both continuing to fulfill their chosen occupations and fates. Grace embarks on a dangerous mission to a vampire sanctuary to help her Vampirate friend Lorcan regain his sight. They travel to a community of vampires who are being treated by a medicinal guru, Mosh Zu Kamal. Grace begins to study healing, and she becomes involved in the personal stories of many residents. Her peaceful existence is jeopardized by the appearance of the evil vampire, Sidorio. Connor and the crew of the Diablo join Captain Wrathe's brother Barbaro on a mission to avenge the death of his brother. They are going to capture the treasure of the Emperor of the Sunset Fort with an elaborate plan. Connor and the success of the plan are obstructed by the deceit of Barbaro's spoiled son, Moonshine. The haunting characters, both new and from earlier books, are again well rounded and believable, each described with care and an attention to detail that should allow new readers to follow the story. Chapters alternate between Grace and Conner's perspectives, providing a pace that never lets up in this rousing tale of exciting escapades, exotic locations, poems, duels, and treachery. The surprise ending leaves the story open to yet another sequel. Reviewer: Eileen Kuhl

I think this book was awesome. I think that Grace and Lorcan are starting to fall in love. I hope the next one is even better. Cant wait for the next one. If you like vampires or pirates then this is the book for you. But you have to read the first two books to understand what is going on. I also think people find Grace and the Vampirates more interesting.

This book is really entertaining but i only gave it a 4 star rating because... i got a little lost while reading. Overall Justin Somper is an intruiging young author who writes wonderful books for all ages. Hisnseries give you a thrill and leave you 'pondering' or lets just say hanging for more suspense.

    Blood Captain

If you like Vampires this is a great read. You should read the first 2 before getting into this one. The way this blends with the beginning 2 is really well done. It does not do a lot of backtracking like some other books do. The characters in this book start to really show you what they are made of. The author did a really great job. Again if you like vampires yuo will enjoy this. It does not have blood and guts it is vampires who are pirates, and all the swashbuckling that goes with it.

THIS BOOK IS THE BEST ONE OF THE SERIES!!!!

i LOVED this book!!!! i am trying to get my friend to read the series. i am glad that connor is done being a pirate on the DIABLO,i wish that grace and lorcan stay together, and i hope that they can defeat sidorio and his crew once in for all. i hope that there will be a fourth one so we can actually get to know her, and see what happens to grace and lorcan, and connor, and sidorio

    hmmm

This is very unhappy. I'm glad that Gace is with Lorcan so much, but alas, their relationship is on the frits. I dislike this very much. And Connor on the pirate ship has stopped being a pirate. This is also frustrating. Why must it be so? Also, the ending is very strange. Too much of a cliffhanger.
