    The Vampire and the Virgin

Who doesn't need a little R&R on a warm, sandy Greek Island? Opa! Well, Robby MacKay, for one. The dashingly handsome vampire hero in Kerrelyn Spark's newest adventure/paranormal, The Vampire and the Virgin, is anything but happy about his forced vacation on the Isle of Patmos. His great-grandfather and employer, Angus MacKay-proprietor of MacKay Security and Investigation, highly recommended the time away, well, gave him an ultimatum of taking the time off or not returning to work, to help Robby heal his body from the two nights of torture that Robby endured at the hands of Casimir and his Army of evil vampires, the Malcontents.
Robby needs to recoup and work on his plan of revenge. And all went well until he's halted in his tracks by the sight of a Greek goddess on a balcony.
    But she's no goddess, she's a mortal.
Olivia Sotiris, FBI criminal psychologist, was seeking the warmth from her native Greek island and her Grandmother for some much needed time to regroup and calm her frayed nerves, since every time she looked at a beautiful red apple it would bring back horrified memories of being stalked by a serial murderer who is behind bars, but somehow still has the ability to frighten Olivia.
But Olivia forgets all about her nerves the second she spies through her grandmother's telescope, Robby. Could the gods be granting the gift of such a beautiful man for Olivia?
    Oh, yes.
    And opa!
Robby and Olivia have to overcome his obsession for revenge and her fear derived from a serial killer. Oh, and to add to the conflict is her pesky virginity and the fact that he's a vampire. Will their romance be doomed or something that even the Greek gods would be envious of?
No body does heroes like Kerrelyn Sparks, and Robby MacKay is another one of her greats with a deep soul that has been wounded from the torture he's lived through. But sweet and smart Olivia Sotiris just may charm the pants off of him all in good time.
For this spring, The Vampire and Virgin can add that touch of warmth that turns into a lip biting, cheeks blushing, steamy good time. Curl up and enjoy!

    Worst book I've ever read

I was hoping for a nice paranormal romance. What I got was a spoiled brat heroine who really had no motive to change other than the author writing so. As for the Hero, he was excellent early on but then turned into a wimp completely under the thumb of the brat. The story line was promising but dialogue and what must have been thought of as character development was sorely lacking. I had just finished another of this genre and thought it was bad. This was worse. The graphic autonomy lessons were disgusting as the "romantic" interludes scattered throughout the story, and there were too many of them. This is a complete waste of money and time unless you are with a limited sence of good storytelling thinking this to be an excellent book. It is excellent only as an example of how low this genre had fallen. I definitely do not recommend this book to anyone. This author is off my potential list if this is the best she can put out.

I thought this book was a definite can not put down. I was finished with it in 2 days. I love Kerrylyn Sparks and this was a great continuation of the Love at Stake series.

Kerrylynn Sparks infuses her novels with humor, sex, adventure and did I say humor. Even though Vampires are not real, she makes you relate to the characters by adding believability. She ads life to the characters by making them do everyday things. The draw of the supernatural also makes you escape day to day life. It fills you with romance and makes you feel as if you were the one experiencing ecerything that happens in the story. Also the way she continues with the characters from the past stories also makes you feel as if you know each of them and have been a part of their lives. It is the adult Twilight Series. THe sex scenes are also very well writtenm adding humor just makes it more believable.

    Loved it!

I've been waiting for this book for a while since I LOVED Robby in the other books. I was not disappointed. I laughed, I giggled. It was a nice book to escape into, just wish it had been longer.

    Love this series

Kerrelyn Sparks has a great way to tell a story. Love her characters and the world she has built around them. Definitely worth exploring. Each story can stand on its on from this series, but has so much more depth when you start from the beginning and follow along with the adventure.

    Pure Fun Vampy Fluff

    Olivia’s packing list:

    1. Sunscreen
    2. Bathing suit
    3. Flip-flops

FBI psychologist Olivia Sotiris is looking for a cool ocean breeze, sand between her toes, and a break from her crazy, and sometimes dangerous, life. But when she escapes to the Greek island of Patmos, all she gets is a meddling grandmother trying to marry her off. None of the men there interest her—except a mysterious Scotsman named Robby MacKay.

    Robby’s packing list:

    1. Synthetic blood
    2. More synthetic blood
    3. Jogging clothes (even a Vamp has to stay in shape!)

Robby needs to cool off, too, since all he can think about is revenge on the Malcontent bloodsuckers who once held him captive. But then he meets Olivia, the beauty with wild curls and a tempting smile. When a deadly criminal from one of her cases back home tracks her down, Robby will have to save her life, along with giving her a first time she’ll never forget …

Suffering from being kidnapped and traumatically tortured, Robbie is ordered away from his security job on a three month vacation to heal some wounds and clear his mind. Having some creepy personal ties to a deadly serial killer, Olivia is also ordered away from her FBI job in a chance to escape her growing fear. Neither can truly escape their dark pasts, but they do find some comfort with each other while in Greece. When the past does finally catch up to them, Robbie and Olivia's relationship isn't something most could except, but can they make it their new reality?

I expect Kerrelyn Sparks books to be pure fun vampy fluff when it comes to paranormal tales. They're usually easy to read books full of silly vampire adventures and hot romances, but I found it difficult to enjoy Robbie and Olivia as realistic characters throughout The Vampire and the Virgin. Something about them didn't really ground them enough to make me feel compassionate to their struggle of being together. I'm not sure if it is the series in general that is making me lose interest bit by bit, the weak plots I've been trying to overcome later in the Love at Stake Series or just my reading taste changing over the years, but I'm not enjoying Sparks books as much as I use to.

Another flop in reading for me is the whole "instant love" effect that takes over the main characters and believe me . . . they talked about it a lot throughout this one, but, as always, the instantaneous attraction/sex/love wasn't really working for me. I wanted more depth to the story, I wanted more details to the characters lives, I wanted more of a lot of things and it just wasn't there. Thus, I felt the overall story was lacking for basic substance. It was a bland tale, but if you're loyal to the series - check it out . . . if not, you could easily pass for something better in the vampire romance area.

Likes: Olivia's Grandmother had her moments.

Dislikes: I hate how Sparks seems to be getting desperate in adding characters to the series, thus she appears to be adding new ones ever other book now and, sadly, they're not really the wow-I-need-to-come-back-and-read-more-about these-great-character characters.

    Highly Recommended

I LOVE this whole series. I received the first,How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire, for free thru my nook and was hooked instantly. Karrelyn writes so well she gets you involved in each of the characters lives and you can not wait for more. They have just enough spice to get you going but it does not over power the story. If you do not read this series you are missing out.

    Highly Recommended

I love paranormal romance and this was a wonderful story. I have been reading the "Black Dagger Brother" series and who hasn't read the "Twilight" series. This was the first book I've read by this author and I loved it. The characters were loveable and the romance was subtle but steamy. I would love to read more about Robby and Olivia in another story; does he ever get revenge on Casimir? Will he and Olivia have children; will the kids have special gifts? I recommend reading this if you like Vampire Love Stories!!

    Amusing and touching

This book started off a little slow, but picked up speed once Olivia and Robby were back at their respective jobs. Olivia works with the FBI and has a special gift. She can always tell if a person is lying. Robby is the first person that she cannot 'read',which scares and pleases her.She has a serial killer harassing her from behind bars and fears he has an accomplice. Can she trust Robby when he says he cares for her and wants to protect her?
Robby knows Olivia values honesty above all. But he is afraid to tell her his secret.Naturally, problems arise.Readers know that there will be a happy ending;this is a romance in addition to being a vampire story, after all.But the getting there despite secrets and a killer stalking Olivia,is an enjoyable and easy read. One of my favorites in the series.

    Can't stop reading this book!

I purchased this book almost a year ago, and I've read it probably ten times in that year. This is an engaging read, with great characters and believable situations. I found myself totally accepting the presence of shape-shifters and vampires, and was totally involved in their action.

If you're a fan of vampires (i.e. Twilight) give this book a try. You won't be disappointed.

    Great

I loved this book. I read it in an entire day. It was interesting, it got a little bit cheesy at some points, but it was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it.I would definitely recommend it and will probably be reading other books by this author in the future. It was a great way to spend a rainy day.

    Not what I expected

After reading the synopsis, I expected a paranormal romantic comedy. Wrong. No comedy. Little romance. Just plain boring. Sorry I wasted my money on this one. Don't bother.
