Editorial Reviews

Blurb - Piers Anthony
"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans."

The blurb told of a betrayal that would rock Sam's world. As a prolific
reader (4 - 5 books a week) and from experience with the previous novels
in the series, I thought that I knew what it would be before I began
reading. I was right, the who and the how, and thought Sam handled the
situation very well and went on with her case. Then the last two pages
of the book slammed into me like the proverbial freight train. The
angry tears flowed, I threw the iPad to the floor (oops!) and flew out
of the house for a long walk! Thank you, J.R. Rain, for your ability to
make me feel that your characters are so real that I would experience
such sorrow and fear for Sam.

Very Compelling New Vampire for Hire Novel

Vampire Games is the sixth book in the Vampire for Hire Series. In this book, Samantha Moon, a mother of two, private detective and a vampire is hired by a professional boxer to look into the death of his opponent during his last fight. What she discovers is hard to believe.

Samantha has been the lover of Kingsley Fulcrum, a werewolf. Some very disturbing events occur in their relationship. Her friendship with Fang also becomes jeopardized when Fang starts a relationship with another vampire. She is having troubles with her children. Overall, Samantha is having a very bad time of it.

I enjoyed this new installment of the series. The story was compelling and quick moving. The new developments in her relationship with Kingsley and Fang made my heart hurt. I hope that the next book finds Samantha in a better place in her life. I want her to be happy. I highly recommend Vampire Games and the other five books in the series.

I really love this series by J.R. Rain, and the end of the book

I really love this series by J.R. Rain, and the end of the book always leaves me wanting more. Sam is a great character and I love how she is written. I like how we have learned about her powers and vampire life along with her. She is such a believable person, the kind of woman you wished lived next door to you so you could keep tabs and live vicariously through her life. Things don't come easy for Sam and she struggles with her personal, professional, and paranormal life. How to make them all mesh together. I was sorry to see the tension between her and Kingsly as well with her and Fang. Sam doesn't have a lot of people in her life she can be her true self with, I hope that things work out with those two. I also hope things work out well for Fang, I really liked him and hope he isn't lost to the dark. I was also happy to see Sam come out of the closet with her kids, now she won't have to hide who she is at home anymore. We all need a place where we can be authentic and not have to play games. Another good book in a delightful series, looking forward to what happens next.

Another home run for J R Raine

Innovative and highly entertaining. Some series just sort of get stagnant and peter out.....but not this one! Plenty of surprises here. Can not wait for the next book. If you are a paranormal fan this series is just what you were hoping to find.

Another great addition to JR Rain's Samantha Moon series! Sam has to
deal with some big changes in her life- some good and some that make you

As always J.R. keeps us wanting more. This is yet another great book in the
Samantha Moon Series. But this time he has made so many turns and twists
who knows what will happen next. Will Samantha's secret be kept? Will she
fall in love again? Can she help Fang before he is lost? Who knows but J.R.

    Another Sam Moon Hit!

Sam Moon is hilarious and a bad-A vampire - LOVE her! What I love about JR Rain is that he really develops his characters and you learn something new about them in every new book. Sam's powers are evolving, her kids are growing up, her relationships are. . . complicated but every book brings something new to the characters and plot of the story. The writing is witty and fun and stays fresh. I would recommend this book, and the entire series, to all vampire fans and even not-vampire fans :)

    Love these books!!

Not sure when I purchased this series, but I was bored one day recently, looking through my Nook library and decided to give it a shot. And I can't believe I've let such good books left unread for so long!! This is such a good series and I hope it never ends! It's not your typical vampire storyline, which makes it even more interesting. I fully intend to venture into some of this author's other writings. But not until I catch up on Samantha Moon!!
