Baron Byron Balazs nears the end of his arduous journey; his bodyguard-the enigmatic and deadly Vampire Hunter D — has delivered him to his faraway home in Krauhausen. Having survived the near-epic journey, and many attempts on his life — ordered by his father, the dread Vampire Noble Lord Vlad — the baron thinks he is ready for his final battle, whatever the cost. But Lord Vlad is not so easily vanquished, as he unleashes yet another host of nefarious killers on his son, not least of whom is a mad doctor who was enlisted to perform sinister experiments on the young baron's mother years before!

Though I loved this book, as I've loved all the Vampire Hunter D novels, this one did seem to drag in parts. I'm not sure what it was about it, but it took me longer to finish this one - perhaps because number 11 seriously blew my mind! However, it is fascinating to read more about Byron's (very disfunctional) family, and how D endlessly ends up involved in it. There was a killer twist of an ending as well. May was very entertaining, and the "Makeup Lover" was a deliciously distrubing character. Don't miss this!

Hideyuki produces another great volume with his ending parts 3 & 4. Much is reveled about Byron Balazs's family, while D fights he way through to Lord Vlad he takes on side jobs from interesting employers. A must read for any Vampire Hunter D lover.
